The new one arrived, and I opened the box, plugged it in, and turned it on. This time it worked, although it was already so slow that I was shocked. Trying to check my email took five times as long as it does on my old computer. And this was literally the first time I'd used the thing. In fact, the whole point of this computer seems to be that it's a trojan horse to get people to use a bunch of HP's favored apps -- they're built into the computer, taking up precious space, even though they're mostly useless and stupid. After I finally checked my email, I plugged my camera into the computer to download some pictures onto a popular photo-sharing website -- not downloading them onto the computer itself, mind you, but onto a website. What happened next? You guessed it, the computer crashed and would not work again no matter what I did. So all told, two brand-new computers worked for a grand total of 5 minutes before they both died.
I contacted HP customer service again, and got the same response -- send it in for repairs. I asked the HP person if this computer is just a scam. He didn't deny the notion, but he also didn't take my problems seriously or offer any real assistance, even when I told him that he was about to lose a customer forever. I returned it to Amazon and will never again buy anything for this shady company.
