There are so many awesome features in this book which make it a great resource for Discovering Your Brand. Emlyn does a great job of explaining how you can brand yourself, create ideas for new stories, plan for the future, and more! This is a great starting point before you write your book. I highly recommend checking it out.
I review business and money books primarily, and this is a great resource for anyone who wants to create a brand. Branding is a huge part of your success, which isn't only for authors of fiction books.
Well worth the read. I've done the exercises and they have really honed in on my brand.
She knew she was a writer, and she knew she wanted to be published (after all, why write if you don’t intend for anyone to ever read it?), but she didn’t know how to go about it. She turned to books and the Internet and discovered this vague concept called “branding.” She didn’t understand half of what she read and she made many mistakes in the process of trying to learn, never quite sure she was getting it right.
Then, she received the opportunity to review this book, and a series (that’s right – not just one, but several) of light bulbs turned on in her head. Turns out, she wasn’t SO off-target with her trial-and-error understanding of branding. One of the best pieces of advice in this book, “You should never force yourself to write something you hate just to sell more books or get higher reviews...,” is something this poor writer had to discover for herself when she found out there was money to be made in writing romance and erotica...but then realized she couldn’t bear to write a single sex scene. Lesson learned. You can’t be a word whore and hope to make any money at it.
But you don’t have to make the same mistakes I (and the author of this book herself) did. You can buy this, read it, and learn from it. This is solid advice based on practical experience that is worth every penny of this paltry price...and then some.
If you don’t know anything about branding, you need this book.
If you think you know something about branding, you can still learn loads from this book.
And I dare you to not get lost for hours in the “choose-your-own adventure” genre chapter!
*** I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. ***
If you're looking for a good assist, whether you're a newly published writer (like me!) or a veteran, then you need to pick up this book.
Note: I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest, unbiased review.
