This four-part series is a basic introduction to the Bible for those who have little or no background but is also a stimulating refresher for those who have long loved the Bible but never explored the incredible story of where the Bible actually came from and how it was passed on to us. Some highlights included in the four programs:1. "Getting Acquainted" looks at how the Bible is a book like none other in the history of the world, its continuing influence, how it came to be written, how it is organized, and how it is intended for all, and deals with questions we all face.2. "The Old Testament" explores its amazing development, a collection that took over a thousand years to write, how it is revered by Jews as a love letter from God, how it is organized, the Dead Sea scrolls, and fascinating evidence of how the scribes accurately preserved the texts over centuries.3. "The New Testament" looks at its relationship with the Old, how it is organized, the writing methods of the period, why and how the New Testament came to be written, whether we can trust the Gospels as the actual words of Jesus, and how the New Testament canon was formed.4. "Survival, Spread and Influence" shows the Bible's influence in the development of Western civilization, how it survived despite repeated attempts to destroy it, how the Bible was taught in the Middle Ages, the recovery of Scripture for the laity, and how the Bible has transformed individual lives across the centuries.Accompanying guide, worksheets and color booklet in PDF are included on the DVD and can be accessed through your computer's DVD-ROM drive.

Top Customer Reviews
If you're very familiar with the Bible in the original mss then it will still be useful, to see how far God has grown you. Makes your heart ache all the more for those still in spiritual poverty. Pray.
There's no controversy here. First section is orientation from a factual perspective of the Bible's impact on history, irrespective of whether you believe it's from God. No pressure. Second, is about the OT; third, about the NT, and finally a very brief recap of the Reformation (again with no blamesmanship). Focus remains on the historical impact of the Book with no claim made nor denied as to Divine Provenance. So whatever your beliefs, you won't be offended.
Even so, there's a fair amount of meat in here, and Mr Boulter's speaking style is easy on the ear, and soul. I didn't find anything inaccurately said; which for me, is a first (usually I find many mistakes in any presentation of Bible or its history). Hence, five stars.
Confirmation of the series is newly found in Matt24-25, see my Matt24 playlist in Youtube (nickname Brain Outy). We just learned that the Chapter (not 2, in Greek) is a syllable-by-year future 'calendar' of history to 3250 AD, and are still vetting the conclusions. So Mr Boulter's video's focus on the import of the Reformation, is actually cleverly prophesied in Matt24:42ff, which my playlist covers. Scholars don't know about it yet; but in a generation or two, this paragraph's content will be common knowledge.
Four half-hour programs featured in this curriculum are:
PROGRAM 1: GETTING ACQUAINTED
Bible is the all-time best-seller since the beginning of printing. It has produced passionate controversy for centuries. What is the book that is like none other in the history of the world? Where did it come from? What does it consist of? Does it still speak to us today? This part is a general overview, giving a basic introduction to the Bible: its history, publication, controversy, origin of name, content, length of time to write, language written in, and format.
PROGRAM 2: THE OLD TESTAMENT
Bible is not only an ancient book but far more. It's a kind of love letter and a still-living legacy that shaped the identity of a unique people. This part focuses on the Old Testament. It explains the meaning of testament, the three divisions, what the OT scriptures revolve around, scribes etc. It also discusses the Dead Sea Scrolls and the accurate preservation of the contents over millennia which underscores the marvel of these writings.
PROGRAM 3: THE NEW TESTAMENT
New testament is a book that centers on Jesus. But how do we know we have the actual words of Jesus? How were the books of the New Testament gathered and selected? What's it all about? How does the New Testament build upon but differ from the Old Testament? This part describes the links and contrasts of the testaments, four sections of the New Testament, history of the writings, the forming of the canon, and preservation of the old texts.
PROGRAM 4: SURVIVAL, SPREAD AND INFLUENCE
This part comments on the various obstacles and people and events that helped preserve the Scriptures over many centuries. Despite attempts of tyrants to destroy it, the Bible has endured and become the most translated and circulated book ever. It was translated into various art forms and given to us in English through heroic efforts. It's the book that influenced the lives that influenced the world.
Vibrant Middle Eastern background music, scenery, acting, paintings, photos, PowerPoint presentations, and comments from learned consultants are used to illuminate the uniqueness and reliability of the Bible. English host R. Boulter converses in clear, concise tomes that are easy to understand. Much research has gone into this study, which is good for beginning Christians as well as all believers who want to understand more about the Bible. The format of the half-hour programs and chapters lend it well to Bible study groups. It is an excellent teaching tool for Bible students, churches and libraries the world over.
