From the Author
The Darkside Universe consists of a planned total of seven volumes, two trilogies and a seventh volume that winds up the epic tale. The first installment, Discovery, was intended as a single novel. About a third of the way through writing the story, I realized that there was a much bigger tale to be told.
As Discovery took shape, it came to me that there was just too much about these extraordinary African Americans who settled on the moon in the sixties than could fit in one volume. As it was, a 500 page novel from a first time author wasn't going to be an easy book to get published; and that was only telling the story of how the world discovered these people who had secretly lived on the moon for decades.
The second volume is scheduled to be published and released in summer of 2012. The story continues to grow. I can't tell you how much fun it is to spin this tale, and I am most gratified for the support already directed my way.
About the Author
William Hayashi's diverse life experiences produced the first volume of a trilogy combining traits from the speculative fiction of Michael Crichton to the surprising plot twists of Robert Ludlum. Hayashi is a life-long member of the Information Technologies industry. He began as a programmer in the early 1970s and has had his own business consulting firm for over 25 years. Hayashi's writing talents also encompass award-winning screenplays. His first screenplay won Best Script in Chicago's 2009 leg of the International 48 Hour Film Project.

I started reading this science fiction saga by reading Volume 2 entitled "Conception" (this was not by design but by accident). I just completed Volume 1 "Discovery" and found it to be a great opening to this exciting story. The very next day I received Volume 3 in the mail and was extremely excited about continuing the journey and explorations of the over 2000 brilliant African Americans who came together to literally start a new chapter in human civilization. Like any GREAT story, it takes time and patience to get through the storyline development and to fully appreciate the central characters and their trials and tribulations, and Hayashi demands that you walk this journey with him step by step: each volume is at least 600 pages. Take your time and enjoy the entire journey; it is worth the effort! If you find yourself wanting to read this book rather than watch a great movie, then you will know you are dealing with a masterpiece.
It is NOW time for me to get started on the third and final installment: "CONFRONTATION"!
If you’re looking for something New & Refreshing along with a good interweaving plot, The DarkSide Trilogy is for you. I strongly recommend picking up a copy until the ebook is available.
Rather living, tolerating, and many times over, surviving the confines of a western society, a group of brilliant individuals take a bold opportunity to think outside the box.
Decades later, in present times, the world is now waking up to the fact of an thriving melanoid community, with technology far outstriping their own, existing on the other side of the moon. For some it is not an easy pill to swallow; not when generations of inbreed hatred take presidency. For others there is awe, in the presumed unattainable being a long since established reality. Yet for many in power there is a surging fear, of the unknown. "What are their intentions?" The ending of this first installment, of the Darkside Universe, may surprise you.
The concepts are unique and the characters are fully developed. The author tackles race and historical context within a masterfully developed fictional world.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I look forward to reading the next and highly recommend adding it to your collection.
