From the Author
Dear Readers and Aquarists,
In this book, there is something for every aquarist. From keeping Discus for just breeding purposes using bare bottom aquariums, to creating a magical underwater world of a planted aquarium. The book has chapters covering high protein foods you can make yourself, to suitable inhabitant species for community discus aquariums and much more.
I hope the book is enjoyed by all aquarists, of all levels and of all ages. I think such a pastime is truly rewarding and can provide countless years of enjoyment and give fond memories from ones past endeavours.
On a personal note, I have found tropical fish keeping very rewarding. Where from an early age as a child, it helped me to gain an appreciation for life and all whom we share this Earth and from studying ichthyology has enabled me to breed and rear many species as a true hobbyist. From times of success to disappointment as a tropical fish hobbyist, it has taught me that through love, care and dedication, can bring the greatest of results and where your greatest friend, is time! Where you can develop a trust with your charges. There is never a silver bullet to rearing and breeding these species and others, only time served as a dedicated aquarist.
Warmest Regards and Best Wishes,
Alastair R Agutter
