The stickers that are the backdrop to each room are bubbling and already peeling at the corners.
Elsa’s leg has fallen off while playing with it.
Don’t waste your money. It’s junk. Would love to be able to return it except it came from Santa. How do you return gifts that came from Santa??
First, our daughter saw this in a Disney Store and thought it looked like fun, and we agreed, so we decided to buy it on Amazon for her for Christmas. You know the phrase "don't judge a book by it's cover"? This was one of those cases where it looks a LOT better than it is.
As soon as she unwrapped it, she wanted to open it. We waited until the rest of her presents were unwrapped, then started unboxing the castle. Immediately, we ran into issues. It's one of the most difficult things to remove from the packaging that I've ever seen. Every single item is taped, zip-tied, or wired to something else. The tape is hard to remove because it's super-cheap, and the tape itself breaks. The zip-ties are the easiest, because you can just cut them, if you can access them. The wires are the hardest. Normally, wires are easy because you can twist them until they're mostly straight, then remove. Not these. Some are tied to themselves, going under and between the other half, or twisted so tightly, you can't untwist them without needle-nose pliers.
After getting everything out of the packaging, we noticed that some things were broken that we didn't expect. For instance, the tree itself was broken in half. It also had a branch that broke off, and several more that were bent. Sven's sleigh is bent beyond repair, and Christoph's leg was off. The top of the castle arrived bent, and the interior walls of the castle are seriously screwed up. No exaggeration whatsoever to say this was the worst quality Disney product of my lifetime, and I'm including the movies John Carter and The Lone Ranger in that assessment. They didn't make a toddler cry, at least.
Important note: If you're foolish enough to disregard my review and buy this anyway, DO NOT REMOVE THE TRY ME BUTTON. That is the ONLY way to activate the music and tree lights. If you take it off, even if you think "oh, this comes off" because it looks like it would, you'll never see the tree light again. I even tried unscrewing the base of the tree to see the electronics to see if there's something I could solder together, but there isn't. Even if you do solder it, the tree will only stay lit for about 20 seconds, which is the length of the song demo it plays, then shuts off. I don't know why it even has removable batteries because you'll never need to change them, since it's an LED and at 20 seconds per press, it'd take decades to drain those batteries.
That brings me to the last problem. This castle is the original Castle of Arendelle playset, but with the music and tree added. Compare the photos of the original playset from 2015, to this one, and you'll see the top of the castle (where the bell goes) and the tree is different... but that's it. Save your money and buy the original for around $50, and maybe you won't have a crying toddler on Christmas morning like we did. Now we have to decide whether it's worth it to return and try to get our daughter a different gift, even though she was really excited for this one, or just settle for this piece of garbage.

1) Unpacking - a nightmare. Took 30 mins, with a knife, scissors and some choice language to complete. No instructions whatsoever.Read more
