My 11 year old daughter got her ears pierced 5 months ago, and she has still been having painful issues putting her earrings back in when switching earrings or after removing her earrings for sports. While she did not have any allergic reactions, her holes would close up almost immediately, which made every time we had to put earrings through the holes again very painful. We also had problems because she has to remove her earrings for sports, and we had a very difficult time putting earrings back in after there had been nothing in her ears for an hour or more. These plastic post "protectors" are AWESOME. They are invisible when you insert them on their own, but they are hollow, so you can put any earring post through them as well. This is great because once we put them in her ears, she can easily switch any earrings she wants in and out without pain or "repiercing". She can also take her earrings out, but leave the plastic protector post in while she plays sports so that her holes don't close up. Since they are plastic, there is absolutely no concern about an allergic reaction. We plan to leave the plastic post posts in her ears indefinitely until her holes show no signs of closing up again. I HIGHLY recommend these to anyone who has recently had their ears pierced. I wish we had started using them as soon as she was able to remove the original piecing earrings.

Have used in the past. Having difficulty at this time due to I have allowed my piercings to grow up a little and having a little difficulty getting the protectors in with the earrings. Will probably have to have ears re-pierced. Ouch. However using the ear protectors is the only way I can continuously wear earrings due to I am allergic to most. So thanks I love them!

This is the answer for you. They are made of light weight plastic and you can snip them to size (if they are too big like they were on me) and either use your backs or the backs that come with the protectors. I put them on the 7 (my ears have multiple piercings) studs that I like to wear and haven't taken them off since and that was weeks ago. Very good buy!!

I am extremely allergic to all metals, these have made it possible for me to wear earrings. I love them! The only draw back is that they will make your earrings a little thicker (expected) and my holes are very tiny, it was a little bit of a struggle and uncomfortable to put them in, but once that was accomplished they worked great! I will be buying more!

My daughter has trouble wearing earrings. Her ears get all irritated and red and nothing seems to help. I bought one package of these to give them a try. To my great surprise, these little plastic protectors actually work. She can wear earrings again without irritation. However, the protectors are so, so, so small and delicate, it's very hard to get them separated from each other (they come connected). I ruined several of them just trying to get them apart. Once you get them apart, you have to snip the end off so you can get the back of the earring on, which is also a challenge, especially if you have fingers that aren't very nimble. Then, I think I lost three of them just trying to get them in my daughter's ears. So, yeah, they are challenging, but ito me, they are worth the price. I will buy more, but I'll look for a bigger package or buy several packages next time. That way, I can ruin as many as I want.

I can wear any earrings now. Severe nickel allergy. I was getting frustrated by the inability to wear even 14k gold. Yes, what some of the other reviewers wrote was correct. It is hard to get those in, but it's a no brainer. The holes are only big enough for the standard post. These earring condoms, as tiny as they are, are still going to add some width. Didn't hurt, just took some time. They are invisible also. Bonus!

This is a great concept. However, as other reviewers have stated, they are tiny and extremely fragile. The problem: If you get so much as a little tear in it, metal is exposed, and you are right back where you started. I have ultra-sensitive ears and was very hopeful that these would help me. However, I am glad they are working so well for others.

Bought these to cover wires on cheap earrings so they don't leave black marks on skin. Plastic is a little firmer than should be. Some have split turning the corner on wires. This would not be an issue if you plan to use on post earrings.
