Editorial Reviews

Digitally remastered edition of the legendary UK band's 1968 album. Founded by legendary counter-culture figure Mick Farren and Russell Hunter and inspired by the Fugs, The Deviants were first of the anarchic groups to emerge from the Ladbroke Grove area of London. Two years before Hawkwind burst on to the underground scene, The Deviants were preaching revolution and creating their own form of musical anarchy. Disposable was the band's second album and featured the legendary 'Let's Loot the Supermarket'. a musical signpost that would point the direction The Deviants' offspring, the Pink Fairies.13 tracks. Esoteric. 2009.

Originally released in 1968, as this was their follow-up to their debut 'Ptooff' lp (see my review) and nearly as good. 'Disposable' simply continues the feat of showing off Mick Farren's off beat sense of humor. With cuts like "Sparrows And Wires", "Let's Loot The Supermarket", the notable "Slum Lord" and "Normality", I personally thought that 'Disposable' was a true keeper. Line-up: Farren - vocals, Duncan Sanderson - bass, Sid Bishop - guitar and Russell Hunter - drums. Another outstanding late '60's UK piece of psychedelia to fully take in.

disposable is another esoteric reissue which continues along the lines of their first release, ptooff! the zappa/stooges/fugs influences are still prevelant among the songs on this cd. the songs were written, performed and recorded during a marathon methedrine binge by the band. the band expanded their sound by adding keyboards to the mix. pete brown (of battered ornament fame) and dick heckstall-smith were other guests on this cd. the politcally vocal band continued along the punk, grunge, avant garde line with their music. if you never heard the deviants and are into early zappa and the stooges, you will thoroughly enjoy disposable and their first release ptooff! released in 1968 the music still stands up today.
