Dissent marks book 7 in this series and it just keeps getting better and better. The cast of this series kills me. You want Sal and her family to be safe and happy but you're also rooting for Tyr off on the side, hoping for his bite (pun intended) of happiness. This book is epic in so many ways but some of the best moments are the quiet times with character development and interaction. These characters make you laugh, cry, curse the author, and you'll be back for more every time.
My poor fangirling heart is so happy seeing Kolt finding his place and seeing the father - daughter relationship between Sal and Ran continue to grow. Some of the moments with Ran this book just made my heart melt. He's the father she airways deserved and I'm so proud of both of them and how far they've come.
This book does it all. I was even crying by the end of the recap BEFORE CHAPTER ONE! I'm so happy I get to be a part of this world when each book comes out. You will too.
I love these stories and will support this author in all of her endeavors to continue to share them with us.
Also, why is the fort and the elites so out of control? The fort is a free-for-all and the elites are running around like kids with sugar highs.
This whole story had me confused. The author contradicted herself over and over and over...I couldn't keep up.
In book 7 we see the struggle to win over the Conglomerate military. The very people that will matter when blood hits the ground in the continuing war; those that will be fighting alongside the Angelians’. The fight against adversity is a continuing focal point, but it is by no means a boring focus. In other works of fiction, you see adversity overcome so easily, when that’s just not authentic. In Dissent, we are shown that sometimes it’s the little things, done person by person, that show the world how to change; that its even possible.
This book really did an excellent job of showing the reader the strength of a family. Family that you choose and that choses you is precious. Sal’s family; human, gauouri, and iliri continue to show up to the table each and every time. Once you dived past the politics, Dissent was all about strengthening those family bonds; this will serve them well when the real fighting begins. Auryn makes us, the reader, invest more of ourselves with her characters. We love more, we hate more, we just experience more in the most visceral way. You start to strategize with Sal, laugh with Zep, and learn to trust with Shade. When you are done with Dissent your body may be in the real world but your mind and heart will still be in Ogun.
