From the Dissident Right Paperback – May 2, 2013

In this book, Derbyshire addresses race relations in America without evasion or euphemism. I wish that more people were brave enough to discuss this topic honestly instead of mindlessly parroting the official line.

Derbyshire is a genius, and a prophet. His logic is rock-solid, yet he makes room for magnanimity, and tolerance. White folks-- especially liberals-- need to contain their knee-jerk reaction and pay close to attention to what the man is saying. It is the truth.

As always, Derbyshire has both the insight and the language to take on the most contentious subjects. Anyone interested in what really drives Western society should read this. Highly recommended.

Sadly, I suspect John Derbyshire will be vilified for pointing out things that are true. These are things that make me sad, but they are true. Maybe some day we can truly put racial animosity behind us but it doesn't seem to be right around the next corner.

John Derbyshire's "From the Dissident Right" is a well-written collection of essays concerning the "National Question". Derbyshire, fired by National Review for his "controversial" opinions, writes about race, immigration, and other controversial topics. The Talk (nonblack version) is well worth the price by itself. His thoughts on the "dissident right" vs. Conservatism, Inc. is also well done. If you are interested in non-PC articles on race, crime, immigration, etc., this is a good place to start. Highly recommended.

How many times have you wondered how someone so smart could be so stupid? This John Derbyshire chap? What a buffoon! He actually thought being correct and having facts behind him made a spittle of difference! Thank God I am not so dumb as to believe anything like that.

In this stupendously entertaining collection of essays on what Derbyshire calls the National Question, encompassing issues such as immigration, race, culture, and national identity, he displays his social suicidal tendencies in full. Bad for his social life, but right-on for the intellectual lives of the rest of us.

The book starts off, not surprisingly, with the wonderful and wildly controversial essay, The Talk: Nonblack Version. Written in response to the insufferable hectoring whites had to endure about the “talks” black parents allegedly have to give their children about the dangers of being black in this country (talks totally devoid, of course, of any hint that maybe blacks and their own behaviors, not least of which is the endless enabling of the dysfunction endemic in their community, has anything to do with the consequences they may face), the essay was almost as good as the epileptic fits it produced among professional blackness and its shadow puppet on the Left.

What was particularly illuminating about the affair was how clearly it demonstrated the lying about what the modern Left (which cares about blacks the way Howard Hughes cared about washing his hands) has claimed to want all along. They want an honest conversation about race? They got one, much to their regret. "Not all blacks are like that!” Yes, exactly as Derbyshire stated, explicitly indicating that the rules laid down in his own Talk were for those times when individual characteristics of a black one might meet are not know. “Some whites have the same behavior!” Duly noted, noted the Derb. Wonderful.

The whole book is like this. Derbyshire just states the obvious time and again, which is a pleasure given how rare one gets to do it. The obvious, such as self-sufficiency and minimal dependence on government have no appeal to underperforming minority groups, who are much better off voting to take money from better performing groups. Not surprisingly, that is exactly what they do.

Derbyshire's point-by-point rebuttal of open immigration arguments is similar. One wonders why these points did not spontaneously pop into one’s own head. It is wince-inducing to realize just how subversive truth telling is nowadays.

I cannot say whether the tide is reversible. Perhaps it is not, as DerbyshIre indicated in his book from a few years back, WE ARE DOOMED. If it is, then it will only come about through a clear understanding of what we face and, more importantly, the people we face. FROM THE DISSIDENT RIGHT provides some of that clarity.

John's writing is stellar as always. This is the epitome of truth to power discourse. It reveals indisputable facts that defy denial solidifying the proper conclusions. Well done.

Mr. Derbyshire's essays are intelligent, rational and written without fear of being misunderstood or misinterpreted. He has too much respect for the reader to be wishy washy and politically correct.
