About the authors

Prima Games, an imprint of DK and a division of Penguin Random House, is the world’s leading publisher of strategy content for PC and console video games. Prima Games understands what gamers—both casual and hardcore—want and need from strategy guides. Every guide features in-depth content, detailed screen captures, quick-reference tips, and professional strategies. Prima Games is also a leader in the digital strategy realm, offering interactive maps, streaming video, searchable online guides and apps, and a full website at primagames.com.

A devotee of arcade fighting games since first seeing a Street Fighter 2 cabinet in a bowling alley in his childhood, Joe discovered the nascent fighting game scene in the late 90s through ancient internet meeting spots like alt.games.sf2 and fighters dot net. He started traveling to and helping run tournaments throughout the early to mid aughts. Through this he connected with BradyGames, where his first project was an official guide for Street Fighter Alpha Anthology on PlayStation 2.
From there, Joe wrote dozens of official guidebooks for BradyGames till its absorption by Prima Games, then for Prima Games till the printed game guide industry all but ended. He wrote for almost every genre of game and for almost every major game company, with a particular focus on fighting games; at this point, nobody has written more officially-endorsed English-language fighting game guides than he has. After the fall of Brady/Prima, Joe has transitioned into designing combat and writing game narratives, most notably in Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid, for which he designed the Power Ranger version of Street Fighter's Chun-Li.

Long Tran is a former professional eSports competitor, specializing in fighting games. Since retiring his gaming career, he's contributed in developing several highly-regarded and in-depth videogame strategy guides, including the "Street Fighter V Official Guide".
As an '80s child, he grew up during the videogame boom and embraced everything videogame-related around him, including the rise of the American arcade era. In the mid-'90s, he became obsessed with computers and the internet, which introduced him to games like Starcraft and Duke Nukem.
While he was raised on "Street Fighter II" and its plethora of revisions and sequels, Long didn't realize his fighting game skills until "Marvel Vs. Capcom 2" was released in 2000. He's been a fierce tournament-caliber player from then on, earning multiple top 8 Evo Championship finishes, including fifth place in "Street Fighter IV" (2009).

The walkthrough for story bosses doesn't recommend ideal player/character rank which makes a substantial difference in whether boss fights are reasonable challenges or impossibly brutal. Because this is essential information, the guide is very little help to those who want to clear story content.
When there's so little story to begin with, there's not much excuse for omitting basic information in favor of making the guide almost 100% dedicated to the starting lineup of characters.
Usually I find this company's guides thorough, but I had to learn the hard way how much grind and stats (and even which skills) were needed for bosses like Ramuh. The difference of finding this information in the guide would have saved me time and frustration, especially since the game itself did not explain certain mechanics well or at all, at launch.
