Exciting Story! Uncommon Subject Mattter

I just finished Dissonance Rising: Dawn of the Cult Breaker, and really enjoyed it. It is a very gripping journey about a cult escapee, Josiah, who is drawn to help others do the same. Joshua Smith insightfully brings the reader along through and exciting, tension-filled tale of Josiah's evolution through post-cult self discovery and into ever-increasing confidence, as he commits to helping Nora find and liberate her friend. Colorful descriptions of the sad reality of subjugation in cult life are tempered by Smith's fun doses of dark humour and karmic justice--which help keep the story's energy largely positive. I can't wait for the sequel!!

This book really is a fresh idea as I haven’t heard of anyone doing a story on someone whose purpose is to take down cults. To do that genre and do it with great situational comedy and humor was such an enjoyable read. Character development is fantastic and you thoroughly enjoy what happens to some of the villains, at least my twisted mind did. Anyone who has watched a cult documentary and how they exploit and abuse their followers has wanted Josiah and his friends in this story to show up. I hope the author keeps the pen active and continues the adventure because I couldn’t put this book down.

I couldn't put it down as I saw this conditioned wounded soul fight all the internal and external battles using questionable methods for what he believed was a greater good. Dark humor, romance, action, moral dilemmas, friendship, betrayal ... it's all there. I need a sequel written yesterday!

Loved this book! No matter what else I was reading, this thriller pulls you in to want to read more. With every action; you visualize the story & feel like you are in a movie that hasn’t been created yet. Absolutely brilliant! NETFLIX shows us many different documentaries of humanity; and we know there are different types of cults out there. It’s a glimpse of a MADE UP cult that makes you wonder if any of it could possibly be true. It’s a journey with resilient humorous characters that captivates your attention to be in their shoes, while mentally challenging the reader. A must-read. I can’t wait for the next book to come out.
