Secrets, Sex and Scandals …
Welcome to Storm, Texas, where passion runs hot, desire runs deep, and secrets have the power to destroy… Get ready. The storm is coming.
As Sebastian and Marylee plot to cover up Sebastian’s sexual escapade, Ginny and Dakota continue to reel from the fallout of Dakota’s announcement. But it is the Rush family that’s left to pick up the pieces as Payton, Brittany and Jeffry each cope with Sebastian’s betrayal in their own way…
Hell hath no fury as a woman scorned and never go after a mother's children if you're not ready to face the consequences. Those have always been two of the most poignant sayings I've heard in quite some time and Larissa Ione puts it up front and in value in Distant Thunder, the second instalment of the midseason of the Rising Storm series. This book starts off almost where After the Storm ends, continuing Dakota and Ginny's story and introducing protective mother Marylee and the man readers have come to learn to hate in some way, Sebastian. I found myself, while I read this next book, realizing that even though I've had the chance to read After the Storm by Lexi Blake and Julie Kenner, that just like a soap opera, I couldn't just jump in the middle of the season and expect to fully understand what was happening from two episodes.Read more ›
Someone utters spontaneous threats at Sebastian, unfortunately there are witnesses at this outburst, that is possibly merely just that, a frustrated utterance, but… And are you thinking what I’m thinking? That Sebastian might be stopped… once and for all? And what is Tate Johnson really up to?
And I had thought that most of the excitement was behind us! In fact, it’s just starting; everything that’s happened before almost seem only as the beginning of the Rising Storm series, and isn’t that just great! I still wonder why I like Dakota so much. Mind you, I would not want her as a friend, but her character is so interesting; she’s an accident waiting to happen, and I want to watch!
I love how Larissa Ione kept things moving along, and that’s an understatement, because this novella has as much content as a full-length novel. Ms.Read more ›
Larissa Ione's Distant Thunder focuses on two of the character's we love to HATE (Marylee and Sebastian Rush)! Which always makes for a fun book! I just can't find anything redeeming about them... Plus some of the despicable Hector Alvarez. *shivers*
Marylee Rush is set on destroying everyone who she has deemed wronged her precious son... plus anyone who has contact with her family that she deems unworthy. Which means watch out... she may be coming for YOU! Her sole goal is to move Sebastian up the political ladder and everyone else be damned. And Marylee is ruthless. She doesn't care who she hurts or how she does it as long as she can have her family come off looking squeaky clean. Which seriously is quite the feat. I mean the Senator is a disgusting, cheating whore. He slept with his daughter's best friend. And he is just... ugggh he makes me sick to my stomach. But they are hell bent on discounting everyone else and making them look good. The ONLY thing I know is that it will make for some damn good reading!
And oh boy! What is going on with Hector! If he lands back in Storm... he is going to destroy lives. I don't see anything good coming from this. I am so fearful! I really want to be able to have Dakota redeemed - I know, I know it will take some hard a$$ work! But I so want to help her... I want her to like herself and find happiness...
And now... Now... NOW... I need to wait for September for more! I am going to be counting the days. I just can not get enough.
Yes, I recommend this book. Yes jump in on this fab soap opera series. Make sure you start at the beginning so you don't miss out!
I received a complimentary copy of Distant Thunder in exchange for my honest review.
