I recently used it for a light jersey knit cotton fabric to hem the neckline and armholes of a childen's size tank top t-shirt. It's a little tricky to use, but one you get the hang of it it looks really good. For good instruction on how to master this foot go to threadsmagazine(com) and search for "Mastering the Narrow Hemmer". It's a 3-part series. I am very pleased with the many feet I have bought from Distinctive through Amazon (Sold by Mr. Vac & Mrs. Sew ). Enjoy!

I predominately use organza and lame fabrics with a curved edge. A nice finished hem with the organza is difficult on my serger and lame is impossible but this little $10 presser foot is the answer. It works for both types of fabrics and for curved edges too.

Others have complained the hem is too narrow but it's perfect for a blanket stitch. The finished look is perfect and I've saved tons of time on projects.

It's not hard to figure out but if the thread breaks or the bobbin runs out mid-project, it takes a little bit of maneuvering to reposition the needle right where you left off. I'm sure with more practice and experience it will become 2nd nature.

I have a Kenmore machine; the presser foot is easily attached.

I wanted to get this because of the volume of hemming I do. I spent one night with it in frustration before getting it to work like a charm. I had to actually move my needle over a half point to the right and decrease my stitch length to 1.5. Doing this it works brilliantly. I used this on a Singer Brilliance 6199. Watch a couple videos on YouTube as well. You won't regret getting this foot.

I am writing an entirely new review in light of some personal discoveries I've had using this foot. Obviously some materials are easier to handle than others. And then you have sheers. I've had no issues whatsoever with cottons and such So I'll cut right to the elephant in the room. How to successfully roll hem your sheer fabric WITH MINIMUM Fuss! I mean it, no pins, pre folds or anything. All you will need is a two inch piece of tissue paper. you can use more throughout the length as well too if you'd like but l only use it to make sure my ends don't get chewed down in the feeds.

Line up the edge of your paper with the right side of foot and make about 4 stitches.. This will give you a good tail to help guide the top of your fabric through later.

Keep the needle down and lift presser foot. Using A CLEAN CUT fabric gently guide it under the foot and upward towards the roof of the groove. When it touches the roof nudge the fabric over from the left to encourage it to feed into the groove entirely. It's important that you make sure you see the fabric nearest the needle is feeding properly too not just the fabric closest to you. PLEASE SEE MY ATTACHED PIC OF HOW MY SETUP LOOKS BEFORE I BEGIN. Use a pin or tool to help ease the fabric into that corner if necessary. This should be as close to the start of your fabric as possible. THE FABRIC SHOULD NOW BE TOUCHING THE FURTHEST EDGE OF THE GROOVE. THIS is what will make this foot fold it. If your fabric fails to do this you will get an inconsistent hem! Once set put the presser foot back down.

Slowly place a few stitches down using one hand to hold the thread tails and the other to keep the outer fabric folded into the groove.

The rolled hem is VERY narrow, at 4mm. It's perfect for something like a dress hem for chiffon or other light weight materials, but not ideal for something like hemming bed sheets (which is what I need, I think a 1/4" rolled hem would be more appropriate for that).

That said, the foot itself is as described and appears of good quality. Putting it on my sewing machine was a breeze (I have a Brother XR4040). Comes with decent instructions. Sewing with this foot is not difficult, but will require a bit of practice to get it consistently 100% perfect (but that's always the case with learning a new skill!).

I made silk scarves for Xmas gifts this year. This foot took practice, but once I figured it out, it worked well.I'm a beginning sewer, so I was quite proud of my narrow hems when I was finished.

Works great with my Babylock DenimPro (circa 1994?), on several fabrics (even flannel) and using zig-zag. Didn't work on straight stitch since I can't position the needle on my machine to far left or far right, center only, which causes the stitch to miss the roll entirely -- but that's a problem with my machine, not the foot.

Delivery was lightning fast, and the product was exactly as advertised. Thanks!

When I found the product on your site, it listed the machines that it would fit and gabe a breif idea on how to use. I liked that very much. This product arrived in a very short time and works just as advertised. I found the instructions to be simple and easy to read and understand. I will continue to shop for hard to find items on your site.
