The shank has a fairly intuitive spot to slide into, but the "fork" arm was a mystery to me. The missing piece of information was that the fork goes around the NEEDLE clamp screw. I read in several places online that it goes around or rests on top of the screw... but didn't figure out it was the needle's screw until I watched a youtube video titled "How to fit the walking foot to your sewing machine". Hope it helps you too!
I haven't used this for a large quilt yet — just smaller pieces like potholders and placemats. It's worked perfectly in those applications. It would have been nice if there had been some installation instructions included but it wasn't hard to find them through Google.
I can't speak to the durability since I haven't exactly been putting it under a lot of stress. Most Distinctive products seem to be rated very well. I'll come back to update this review if it should fail before I think is reasonable.
