I had soo much anticipation for this book but that anticipation quickly turned into confusion. I loved Sven in the Until Series and I had high hopes for his book, but I felt like the Sven in this book was a totally different guy. He wasn't the happy go lucky guy we met in Until November. I think we saw him laugh once in the first half. Unfortunately, the first half also turned me off of Sven. Its hard to explain but I just don't feel like he was the same guy. Not only was he darker than I remember him BUT he took specific actions that had me shaking my head in disappointment. However, the second half of the book did redeem him to an extent and by the end I had a gained back a little bit of love for the guy.

Maggie was an ok character. She was strong and believe in herself which was nice to see. She was confident and loved herself. She was a strong female lead. It was really only the inconsistencies that the author created that bothered me.

My biggest issue was that I didn't see any love between Sven and Maggie before they were exchanging "I love you's". We barely even saw a friendship! Then the way they ended up in bed was questionable. Maggie states they are best friends but Sven doesn't think that Maggie is acting any differently when she is drugged and they end up having sex??!! He then got mad when she couldn't remember anything...if he was her best friend (again...we NEVER saw a friendship) then her acting that much out of character should have been a red flag but nope..he takes it as is and gets her into bed.

I found I was having to read the book very slowly. I got whiplash from how fast things changed from one paragraph to the next.

Aurora Rose Reynolds

So everyone who knows me knows I’ve been an active stalker of Aurora Rose Reynolds.

So I’ve been waiting and waiting for Sven’s book it seems like forever from the minute we got glimpses of him in all the other books I wondered who this mysterious guy was. I wait..and then wait…and then wait..

Well let me tell you that the waiting was so very worth it.

Distraction: The great intensity, novelty, or attractiveness of something other than the object of attention.

So you start this book with Sven at a young age and he is thrown into a tragedy so harsh you just want to jump into the book and tell this little boy that everything will be ok. Everything is going to be fine.

Being the survivor that he is Sven grows up to be a man who excels at everything that he does. He has money, he has a career and he has all the women that he could possibly want. The one thing that he has control over is his emotions and he vows to never let anyone break through the wall that he built around his heart.

His past taught him love isn’t enough.

That all change the minute that Maggie entered his life. Maggie is I think what I would call an Alpha Female. She’s independent, she’s sassy, she’s classy, she’s a spitfire and she is ready to rock Sven’s world, just one thing. She has no idea that she is driving him crazy. None!

Maggie works side by side with Sven every night and knows that she isn’t the girl that he usually goes for. She’s not a stick thin model, but the best is that she loves herself just the way she is. It’s just not easy for her to believe that someone like Sven would want her. Making the chase so much more beautiful!

Distraction is the third book in Aurora Rose Reynolds Underground Kings Series. Although the characters make appearances throughout the series, each book can be read as a stand-alone.

Maggie is a hard-headed, protective, take no prisoners heroine. She finds herself in a Las Vegas club looking for the person who drugged her sister. Sporting her pajama pants, she catches the eye of the club owner Sven.

Sven is a well-established character in the Underground Kings Series. Known for his playboy persona and unbelievably alpha male tendencies, the sight of Maggie on his surveillance feed causes him to pause and take note.

Sven and Maggie come together and form a winning combination. Of course, the road is rough as they navigate through the many forces battling against them!

In true Reynolds style, Sven and Maggie meet and find an instant connection. Does that bother me? Not at all! I know when I open an Aurora Rose Reynolds book that there will be an alpha male that is going to fall instantly in love with the heroine in the book. After the two main characters have been well established and have connected, the story takes me away through a tunnel of ups, downs, and crazy turns. Distraction certainly contained that winning combination. Both Sven and Maggie were well-developed characters, and their backstories made them both endearing and kept me thoroughly invested in the story. What was lacking significantly in this read, for me, was the cohesion of the plot. There were too many time lapses throughout the read, and it left me a bit perplexed on several occasions throughout the read. There were so many moments that I wanted to explore more thoroughly and yet; things were moving at such a rapid pace it was difficult for me to keep up.
