Editorial Reviews
Joyce DiDonatos capacity for characterization is as astounding as the range and flexibility of her voice. This new collection showcases DiDonatos multi-faceted art, and the wealth of opportunities open to a mezzo-soprano by presenting her as different characters - both male and female - from the same opera story.

In this recording, she has done that, to a limited extent.
Tracks 12 (Se Romeo t'uccise un figlio...), 14 (Nacqui all'affanno), 15 (Ô frèle corps...) and 16 (Seien wir wieder gut!) are full of emotion and, consequently, make the CD worth it, if for no other reasons than these 4 tracks. The rest of the CD? Sterile filler.

this recording has accompanied me on 'many hours' of highway travel.....always raising me up 'from the present moment'
