About the Author

Diva Pearl (Miss Pearl) inspires her owner, Vicki Gattuso, because they both seem to live in parallel universes, with each another. Vicki is an Ohio native who spends her winter months in Charleston, SC with her husband Jim, two white Pekingese (Pearl and Shoko) plus Oshi, a Japanese Chin. Vicki is part owner of a furniture manufacturing business, with her husband Jim. Pekingese with their ancient history, art and lore are Vicki's passion! You might find her, Pearl and the boys, all strolling along a barrier island beach in SC! Malachy (Westminster BIS 2012) says "Pearl's book is a rare gem, just like she is!"

I have had Pekes for over 30 years, and am totally enamored with the breed. My wish for almost that entire time was to have an all-black Peke; I rescued a mostly black Peke in 2009, and ever since he has filled my heart and home with love. So the last thing I thought I would ever go nuts over was an all-white Peke. But I love Pearl, and am a huge fan of her Facebook page, Diva Pearl.

Because of that page, I purchased Diva Pearl Pekingese: Life After Show Biz for a Pekingese. Diva Pearl Pekingese and Pearl’s Facebook page share one fundamental and key element, Pearl’s human mommy who gives voice to this gorgeous, tiny white gem. Like any highly talented author, she has developed the character of Pearl in its entirety; not since Beatrix Potter (a Peke lover in her own right) has an author given an animal such a well-rounded, credible, intelligent, and lovable personality. Not for one minute of reading, not for one phrase, did I think that I was reading the words of an author, but instead felt I was reading words dictated by Pearl herself.

Supplementing the truly enchanting text are some of the most beautiful photographs of Pekinese ever taken. Staged with style, humor, and restraint, the pictures present Pearl at her most beautiful, and give the reader a view into her fairytale life, including her son and comrade in crime, Shoko (another pure white Peke). It is clear that everyone involved in the creation of the book love Pearl, enjoy her companionship, and are fascinated by her personality. Pearl loves her humans so much in return that she mesmerizes them with her big heart. Diva Pearl Pekingese is a real-life fairytale suitable for any Peke lover, dog lover, lover of small fuzzy creatures, or anyone who wants a paperback escape to a world filled with love, beauty, and charm.

I have been owned by more little Pekingese than you can shake a stick at. These grand little ladies and gentlemen are a real party all the time and make you forget you are alone, sick, or sad. I have two wonderful small girls named Baby Bug and Frankie that also came from Windermere Kennel. This adorable book (and Miss Pearl) touched my heart and made me smile. Which is heard to do when you are fighting cancer. Thank you, Ms Vicki and Miss Pearl.

Ms Vicki Paul Gattuso pens "Diva Pearl Pekingese: Life After Show Biz for a Pekingese", a fantastic and darling motivational story about the life after show biz for 'Miss Pearl'. Beautiful photos, a few "Pearls of Wisdom" for all, and simple to read writing, in the third person of 'Miss Pearl', make this book perfect for youngsters. Highly recommended for both adults and children!

I'm a dog lover and have two Shih Tzu and a Cairn Terrier. I loved Miss Pearl's beautiful pictures and stories about her family and all the lovely people in her life that she loves and who love and care for her.I especially loved reading about her near death experience and raising her two beautiful puppies and was so happy when she was reunited with her son Shoko Moko. This is a heart touching book for dog lovers. All dog overs should read this book. You are definitely in for a treat!! Definitely a 5 Star book with loads of gorgeous pictures of Miss Diva Pearl, her son Shoko Moko and her lovely, caring momma. You'll love it!! Tell all your friends about this book as each will want their own Diva Pearl.

I review a lot of books, but it isn't often that I see one with such flare as Diva Pearl gives right from the beginning. This is the story of an adorable Pekingese named, Pearl. Miss Pearl is a former Pekingese champion and recent Magazine Cover Girl for Orient Express. She has had one glamorous life, and I believe it is far from being over. This tender book tells you Pearl's life story, up to the present. It is full of stunning pictures of Miss Pearl , some with dress up outfits and quite adorable hats. We are shown where Miss Pearl lives and we also get to meet a few of her friends, human and Pekingese. This is a very sweet and tender read and I am sure you will catch yourself smiling as you page through it. Animal lovers will certainly treasure this book. Children will love to see the big bold pictures of this stunning lady, Miss Pearl.

I also enjoyed Miss Pearl's Song and Miss Pearl's Lullaby. Very well done, beautiful song about Miss Pearl and a very warm Lullaby. All of Miss Pearls pictures are stunning. She truly is a Beauty Queen.

This is a cute little book about a pink-loving Pekingese. Miss Pearl lives in South Carolina with her bug-eating son and adopted parents. She is a two time Best of Breed winner and is on the cover of the Orient Express. Despite almost dying during child birth, this little ball of fun fought against death and won. This experience has filled her with deep wisdom, which she has graciously decided to share with the rest of the world when she is not at the beach or on a stroll with her nanny Miss Jacquelyn. I found this little book to be a wonderful look at the life of a Pekingese and I think that Pearl is very lucky to be surrounded by so many people who love her.
