The Parlour, a teashop, opens in town and is the perfect backdrop for all types of activities - meeting friends, fundraisers, and murder.
I hate reading reviews that give away pieces of the plot, so I never do that. I would always suggest reading a series in order, but this could be a stand along. Just like every Krista Davis book, this is a page-turner from the start.
Unfortunately for Sophie, she finds Robert gravely ill one morning. He gathers enough strength to say his final word to her. Could this word be a clue to a mystery in the past? Or it a simple utterance by a dying man for comfort? Sophie herself is unsure until she finds dying person who says the same final word to her. Could these deaths be linked to other strange occurrences in Old Town? Sophie and her friends must try to find the connection before anyone else gets hurt.
I felt this was a fantastic addition to the series. A major change was made and we will see how this affects Sophie in the future. I'm still not feeling the love for Sophie's current beau, Alex, but that is because I'm secretly hoping she will start seeing Bernie as a great catch!! Overall the only thing that disappoints me is that I have to wait an entire year for the next release.
