I am a huge fan of Dystopian novels and they seem to be extremely popular all of a sudden. Veronica Roth nailed it with this series. I absolutely loved the characters and the entire world that she helped me to create in my mind. The way that she describes the factions and what their specific duties are - how each faction contributes to the overall survival of the other factions - the way they are born into one faction but choose the one that they ultimately die with..or without for that matter. Tris's first hand account of everything was very compelling to me. At times her thoughts were things that would have gone through my head in those situations. I found her very relatable. Four was..phew..intriguing to say the least. I couldn't get a good image of him in my head but his basic outline was all I needed. I love they intelligence, mystery, pain, love and determination that he possessed. Christina and Will, Tori, Al, Lynn, Shauna..they were all fantastic and so incredibly different. They each brought their own unique element to the story. I really wish that Tris could have ended with one family member in tact and in her life..but it's she and four against the world now I suppose. This series is MOST DEFINITELY worth the read! Get it before they release the film!

I couldn't put the series down. I read them all in a weekend it was that good. I highly recommend this series if you enjoyed reading Hunger Games and Angelfall.

First, I must admit that I am much older than the target audience of Tweens to, let's say, young adults; but I love to read novels about the future, especially dystopian ones. I also like to see what creative younger minds are thinking. The first of the trilogy, Divergent, interested me quite a lot. The dystopian concept was new, and the characters, although not rounded out to any extent, were fairly interesting. The end of the first book was quite strange, but interesting enough that I wanted to read the second book, Insurgent. (Anyway, I had bought the two as a set.) Insurgent started to disappoint me and continued to do so more and more throughout. There started to be too many loose ends that were never explained-they just dangled in the wind and were forgotten. The characters continued to be less developed, and there were almost no explanations as to why they acted or thought the way they did. The story line began to get more nonsensical. And the romance between the two main characters was BORING, to say the least. And the "facts" that high bureaucratic officials would involve 16-18 year old kids in secret functions were more and more absurd. I give it three stars for the first book and for the fact that despite all the bad reviews, I DID buy and read the third in the series. I guess that kids around 12 or so would find these books interesting, and they probably wouldn't notice how improbable the storyline was.

My 13 year old enjoyed the series, plus a movie just got released for Divergent, so I thought it must be a good story. Plus, reviews stated that those who liked the Hunger Games series might like this series as well, so I figured why not. I enjoyed reading all 3 books in this series and would also recommend it for those who liked the Hunger Games series.

Have not completed the set but so far am enjoying this set. When something comes out that is a keeper I order hardcover. I have a kindle and usually download my reading to that but sometimes I want the books on a shelf. This joins my hard cover boxed edition of the Hunger Games.

I bought the set for an invalid daughter. She read and reread them several times. The price was excellent and could not match the price locally or anywhere. This really opened up her world. I am so glad I was able to get them for her. My PRIME membership and my FIRE are wonderful for saving money, and having so much entertainment at my fingertips. Much of what I get is free because of the prime membership, and if it isn't free, it is a really good deal. Also many items that I order I can't find anywhere else.

Divergent is similar to a lot of post apocalyptic novels of today but stands out with its clever main character Tris. The storytelling is invigorating and captures your attention immediately. I enjoyed Insurgent even more!

This book series was recommended by a friend. The author is very young but she spins a good tale. I really enjoyed getting into the lives of the main characters. Original story line involving factions of society that develop after the collapse of modern society. Very well written. It was hard to put down. If you liked 'Hunger Games' you will totally enjoy this set. Highly recommended.
