This adapter is simply an electrical T connection. It does not power the diversity antenna switch located on the rear glass of the vehicle. You can obtain reception equivalent to what this adapter provides by simply plugging the large Motorola plug into your head unit and ignoring the smaller plug entirely.
I think the designer of this product implemented a simple physical T connection of two cables without any consideration of the complex electrical issues involved with connecting a vehicle's diversity antenna system to a head unit that was not designed for diversity antennas.
The challenge calls for an electrical solution. Carxtc provided only a mechanical solution, and not a very effective one.
After reading reviews about it not working, I was skeptical but bought it anyway. After a 5 minute install it was night and day, this thing made all the radio stations come in at almost HD quality.
