This thing is awesome, I use it for a clock on my bedside table, take it to the beach for music, and create cool animations with it. I love how you can clap your hands to turn the LEDs off and on. I really recommend giving it a shot! The only thing I don't like is that text notifications don't show up.

As a bluetooth speaker and alarm clock, it wasn't too bad, until it froze up. Now I just have a box that displays "05:25" and absolutely nothing else. I can't even turn it off. Waiting for the battery to run down. But I've seen other reviews that say when it freezes, that's that, so I'm not hopeful.

As for the app that you use with it, it's utterly horrible. They tried to put every possible feature possible in the app. Half of the app features have nothing to do with the Timebox itself. Weather and chat and notifications and planners and voice memos, etc. wtf?

It does let you draw designs and animations that display on the device and has a library of existing designs, but it gets boring after a few minutes. I had the mistaken idea that the LEDs would somehow be reactive to the music playing, which would have been cool, but there is nothing like that at all. Just pre-programmed, short looping animations.

UPDATE: After I left the review below, the company did finally send a replacement. Hopefully this one will last longer.

It’s cute, while it’s working. I bought this for my daughter and after a couple months, it quit projecting sound. It still lights up, etc. so it’s not the batteries. Literally, you hear a very slight sound and occasionally it gets loud for a second. It’s not the volume either. I contacted the company and I kept getting a run around and now they just ignore my emails. I do NOT recommend this speaker.

Seems like a great product, but I was misinformed by a message directly from the manufacturer. I was told that even though there are only three alarms available, that I could use the planner function to provide an unlimited amount of alarms.

I made it clear that these alarms would be used for waking in the morning. Upon receipt of the TimeBox Mini, I realized that these 'alarms' through the planner are less than a second of audio and a couple image flashes on the LEDs.

I wrote the manufacturer to let them know they had misinformed me. I was told that they were unaware that such a short audible alarm wouldn't wake somebody in the morning and that they hoped I enjoyed they product otherwise.

So after being given bad information directly from they manufacturer, I feel that I've been hussled...

***UPDATE 9/15/17***
The manufacturer has taken responsibility for their mistake and issued me a full refund, even though I only asked for a partial refund. I still like the TimeBox Mini for what it is, though would still like to see a 7-Day alarm implemented. Thanks Divoom!

***UPDATE 9/1/18***
Completely dead in less than a year. Downgrading from 4-stars, mostly because customer service, to 2-stars because the product did not last a year of sitting on a counter.

I was very enthusiastic but then, big disappointment for the following reasons:
- The rendering of the leds is really bad. It looks as old lights behind low-end plastic, the color is not uniform.
- Sound quality is definitively bad
- The software is buggy and the UX is just horrible, looks as made in the 2000'.
- The Bluetooth continuously captures the sound from my phone. To use Bluetooth headphones I have to switch off the Timebox.
- After giving it a lot of tries, I failed to find any usage. Clock and time functions are low end, games are stupid, drawing pixels can be fun but the rendering on the Timebox is worse than on my iphone so no point...
