Events that have been happening in the club have delayed their wedding a few times, but the day has finally come that they are going to bind themselves together with rings on their fingers. The dress has been picked, the Pastor is in place, everything is perfect. But will the infamous Hangmen Mute be able to get the words to come out of his mouth? He's only even been able to speak in front of his best friend and VP, Ky and his Mae, will he be able to say his vows in front of his whole club?
Tillie delivered in spades on the heartwarming, beautiful wedding of Styx and Mae. I read this with happy tears in my eyes. It was perfect!!
I think anyone who has read this series needed this reminder of how the "love" began - the love for the first book, the love for the characters in it, Styx and Ky's relationship that we haven't seen in so long - this was just another gift Tillie gave us towards all that she's already given us.
"Today I would marry the boy who had pulled me from my deepest despair. Today, I would become become Mrs. Mae Nash . . . . . . at long last, I would be home."
Tillie Cole also incorporated little tidbits of things that can make you go hmmmm....
Yes, she definitely can make you try and predict theory after theory on what her next chess move shall be - we shall see.
It's also staged in a perfect timeline from the last book to the very present which means - next book - here we come.
I will be waiting in fetal position in a corner, rocking and singing Johnny Cash until the next book comes out!

True to the series, there is nothing sugar-coated about the MC world. The language, the lifestyle and the feel of the story is very much in keeping with the characters and the other books, and I love that Tillie Cole puts us straight back into the world of the Hangmen.
But this is a love story, and the love between Styx and Mae is beautifully explored once again as they prepare for their wedding day. But while they are both counting down the days, Styx is struggling with his inability to speak his vows out loud. He is known as ‘The Hangmen Mute’, but for once in his life he wants to say the words, and his battle to do so is heartachingly beautiful.
Meanwhile, Mae is revelling in the life that she now has with the love of her life and her sisters by her side, and I loved the moments that allowed us to catch up with the couples from previous books.
And make sure you read this novella in series order as it takes place during and after the events of book #5, Damnable Grace, and contains spoilers for that book.
This is a gorgeously sweet (but still gritty… and smutty) bonus for fans of the series. I’m so glad we got to see this very special moment from the POVs of the characters that started it all. Even in such a short read, Cole captures their intense connection and their deep love for each other, and I felt every moment of this book along with them.
I love Styx and Mae, and I am so glad to finally see them get married. They have spent so much of their time together saving everyone that it was good to see them focus on themselves and each other again. Mae and Styx have such an undeniable connection. We thought Styx was willing to do anything for his woman, but now we know!! He pushed past his boundaries and limitations to show Mae and the world how much he loved her. Styx and Kai were so adorable in this book. The brotherly love between the brothers in this MC is so sweet. The juxtaposition of these men in this outlaw MC with the love that they have for each other and their women is so unexpected, but Tillie Cole’s writing makes it totally believable and relatable. So excited for what’s to come from this MC!!
