I didn't think I would like it because I figured I would be screaming "IT'S NOT THAT SIMPLE" at it every time I turned the page. And yes, there were those moments...a lot of them actually. But I think the whole point is that maybe we need to be reminded that sometimes it actually is that simple. Sometimes we are sad and suffering so much and for so long that it just becomes part of us...sometimes we even forget why we're sad and suffering.
I would never want to insinuate that it's a "snap yourself out of it" kind of fix. That would be horribly offensive to anyone who struggles with emotional pain that is debilitating and affecting the quality of their life.
I'm just saying that I went into reading this with resistance and I'm glad I was able to open myself enough to let some of it seep in.
I've wrestled with depression for most of my life. I've read hundreds of books that are complicated and lead to nowhere...Adam's book is like sitting down with a good friend who's gone through IT and is showing you the ropes. Not easy to survive tough times in this beautiful life... with JOY! This young man is a great teacher. LOVED IT!
