A surprisingly humorous find. Lighthearted and cute at times with some intensely heavy moments shot in a hand held voyeuristic style. The camera follows an unexpected family gathering on the occasion of a troubled middle-aged man's umpteenth birthday crashed by his brother and childhood nemesis who was originally left off the invitation list. Upon his arrival, a few days drive from las vegas in a stylish American sports sedan, plans for a modest, suburban, birthday celebration, turns into a crazy, disengagement from reality where every ounce of conscience is challenged by a duel between brothers of semi-epic proportions. Obviously, as things pan out, the unpredictability is certain,, specifically in the attitude and emotions that maneuver the storyline. Not sure what I meant by that...in all, the movie is good for three run troughs, I'm on my second.

Two brothers, each pushing middle age, and each with their own set of baggage, breathe new life into an old and unfinished piece of business at a gathering at Mom's house (the old family home) for a family birthday party. The Do-Deca-Pentathlon is an epic battle of strength and mettle, and is comprised of a series of 25 quasi-sports events (ping-pong, skeeball, arm-wrestling, air hockey, breath-holding, push-ups, laser tag, go-kart racing, etc.). The game ends after 13 of the 25 games are won, and the prize is the the coveted "Best Brother" title. And so it goes.

I loved this independent film: it was not unnecessarily complicated (a breath of fresh air), the characters and the situations were wholly relatable, and for the most part, everybody was nice to each other, even when they didn't want to be. At just over an hour long, the story never lagged. I am very happy I took a chance on this quirky film I'd never heard of...and so will you, I'd wager.

Co-Stars Mark Kelly (Jeremy) and Steve Zissis (Mark) rock this film about two brothers estranged for years because of an unfinished competition between the two of them they created in high school. The winner of 25 ridiculous sporting events would determine who was the "champion" for all time. A family reunion brings them back together to recreate the events that will decide the true champion once and for all. This is a fabulously funny and endearing family film. One for your home film library. You will want to watch this again and again!
The entire cast is absolutely wonderful!!
