No Hassle and Easy Operation
C156-D cross-cut shredder features a convenient handle for lifting the shredding part more easily to empty the wastebasket when it is full watching through the clear viewing window in the front. If the shredder is jammed due to shredding exceed paper, the manual reverse can help clear it out.

Overheating Protection
Bonsaii Shredder is equipped with a motor overheating protection device. If the unit keeps shredding over its maximum 3-5 minutes running time and becomes overheated, it will shut off automatically for cooling down 40 minutes to protect the motor..

NOTE:1. Please clear paper scraps and empty the bin when the trash bin timely.

Beware: Built in Obsolescence!

We bought this shredder March 5, 2015. We shred the typical junk mail, expired cc's, etc. We had no problems except the occasional (and expected) jams. Today, less than a year since purchase, the shredder quit working. The motor was running fine, but the teeth weren't engaged. Since it was a year into ownership, I just took it apart to see if it was a quick fix. Turns out the gear that is turned by the metal shaft off the motor is PLASTIC. A year's worth of use had ground off a huge chunk of the gear teeth so it would not be turned by the motor shaft anymore. I understand why a manufacturer would build in obsolescence but it still irritates the heck out of me. Needless to say, I won't be buying this one again.

Don't buy breaks

Let me start by saying that out of all my years with Amazon, I never wrote a negative review even if I wasn't happy with a product. This is my first time, and I don't blame Amazon at all.
I purchased this for home use and only used once or twice a month to shred my personal credit card statements. I believe I had for 3-4 months before the unit stopped working. Total pieces of paper shredded couldn't have been more than 100 pieces of paper, not all put through at once either, one to two pieces of paper at a time over the life before it died. I did call customer service and they asked for the order# from Amazon. I gave them the number and they said they would send out a replacement unit. I was happy to hear this, and was waiting for my replacement. A month later no unit was sent. I called again and they said it wasn't processed and that they would send out replacement. New unit arrived and was working perfectly. Same thing happened, after a few months and not much use, while shredding some bills again the unit stopped working. Of course a few weeks ago I shredded the info from who I talked to and the dates because the unit was working, and now it's gone. I will not call Bonsaii again, I will eat the $60 dollars and get a new shredder from someone else. I figure if I do call that the same thing will happen over and over again.

Why this shredder stopped working after a month. When it was working so well.

I tried to send a video clip showing how the shredder stopped shredding, I do not know if you received the video clip, I was shredding for a month with no problem, and then it stopped the blue light stopped coming on, the reverse comes on, but it is silenced when the forward button is pressed on. I am sending the video to show the problem. I replaced this shredder after my old shredder stopped working after over 20 years. Please help me with this matter, and thanking you in advance. Good for light-use personal shredding

It works as described, and for the price is a good buy.

Now for the disclaimer. If you are shredding every day, shredding a few pieces of mail at a time, then this should be just right for you. If you have large stacks of 'incriminating evidence' to shred, then you may want to spend some of your ill-gotten gains on a more high-end shredder, as you will probably get frustrated by the feature that powers the shredder off to protect it when it overheats. It seems to allow only about 5-ish minutes of use, then stops - and takes longer to cool down than it was running. After it cools down it works again,but it definitely keeps you from getting through a back log quickly.

UPDATE 08/08/2018: I used this shredder a few times per week since it was purchased. I did not go above the 12 sheets that it listed as the maximum, and usually did only about half that as a maximum. I've had to un-jam it about 4-5 times since I've owned it, but yesterday it finally got beyond repair (at least by me) and will need to be replaced. The motor still runs, but it no longer spins. When I looked at it more closely, there are little plastic pieces that appear to be broken off next to the gears. I reviewed this originally in Feb 2016, so I got about a year and a half worth of use from it. I leave it to you whether that is a satisfactory amount of use for the price. Good luck!

Does Not Deliver Desired Results As Stated In Promotional Material

Even with half the volume of paper inserted in the shredder, the shredder struggles to shred. One #10 envelope strained the motor. I used this machine for several days and it broke. The reverse position worked but not the forward.

Also, the top of the shredder is molded to fit only the basket that comes with it. Despite, how careful I was taking the top off to empty the basket, I made a mess. My preference is to have a pull out basket. I had pull out baskets previously and had minimal to no mess to clean.

I returned the machine for a refund.

There is no such thing as being perfect 100% of the time. What matters is how a company stands behind their product. I had Bonsaii shredder which worked great for several months. It did paper, credit cards, etc. Then one day it stopped working. I could head the motor working, but shredding wasn't happening. I figured it was probably some gear inside that either broke or got misaligned and the motor was just spinning without actually turning the shredding teeth.

So I emailed customer support late one day. Literally in under an hour, I got a reply back. I replied back with my order number and a video of the shredder not working. They replied in under 2 hours and said that a new shredder would be shipped out to me. And I could just throw the old one away.

And 2 days later, the replacement shredder has arrived.

This is customer service on par with Costco/Nordstrom. Keep up the good work Bonsaii!

*** Just updated my review below... apparently my circuit got tripped and I had to reset the breaker. Not sure if it was the shredder was the culprit or not. So I increased my review to 3 stars. Still not happy it doesn't shred the cards as advertised.

Just bought my 2nd unit less than 6 months ago and once again it broke. The size and shredding is actually nice except that they keep breaking. The previous one still turned on but the shredder seemed jammed. Thought maybe I put too many sheets in, so I bought another. Now just out of the blue it won't even turn on. Also don't be fooled with the credit card shredder... it only cuts it in half. You can do that on your own with scissors. False advertising in my opinion.

We purchased the above shredder via Amazon from Morning Joy UK in November 2018. Initially very pleased with item, but it failed to work a few months later, after very light use. We contacted Morning Joy UK who were very helpful and dealt with our complaint speedily and efficiently. After following their suggested checks on the machine to try and locate the fault, which proved unsuccessful, Morning Joy UK immediately replaced the faulty shredder with a new one.

The shredder came very well packaged and arrived very quickly after ordering. Unpacking and putting it together was simplicity itself. The "manual" consisted of an A4 sheet folded into a 4-page booklet. But, to be fair, great reams of instructions are not needed. I had a bit of a pile of papers that needed shredding stored over a week or so before I got round to buying this machine. What influenced my purchase was the reviews, and they are correct. However, the manufacturer claims that the machine will cope with up to 12 sheets at a time, and this I very much doubt. I did put 4 sheets at a time through and the motor worked hard, indeed struggled, to cope, and I have no doubt that in no way would it cope with 12 sheets. That said, I got rid of my pile of shredding quickly by feeding 2 or 3 sheets at a time. The machine has a separate slot for chewing up CDs/DVDs and credit cards. I have not used that facility as yet, but given the motor's struggle with 4 sheets of A4, I have grave doubts that it would cope with a CD/DVD, but a credit card should give it no trouble at all. All in all, I am pleased with the machine and glad I bought it, although in an office environment, even a small one, I would have opted for a more powerful, and thus more expensive, machine. But for home use, it is perfect. I also bought a bottle of lubricating oil for the blades and highly recommend that you do so too.

Great shredder for a home office or small business

Got my shredder a few days ago and have to say I'm quite impressed. It will go through the advertised 12 sheets without too much complaint, and does cardboard reasonably well too. It's perfectly fine for the everyday demands of a home office or small business. If you have a lot of shredding to do, you might be better off getting something a bit more durable - this will do one binful of continuous-feed shredding before the overheat protection kicks in and it needs a rest for an hour. I was a bit behind on my shredding so I found this out the hard way! Still, at least it HAS overheat protection - inferior models would just keep on going until they burned out, so this is a positive as far as I'm concerned.

The CD and credit card shredder is a slight disappointment. It only seems to have two blades and no crosscut, so a credit card is only chopped into three pieces. With modern chip-and-pin cards, this is insufficient; there's a good chance the chip won't be destroyed as it might not pass through the blade, hence only four stars on this product.

This machine is quite quiet to use and we bought it as it promised up to 12 sheets with impressive stamina However it does not have an indicator to tell you when the bin is full. The cogs got paper wrapped around the metal cogs and we were unable to unjam it without taking off the cover which invalidated the warranty. We removed the paper that was caught around the cogs but it still does not shred. I would expect a shredder to last longer than 5 months with light use. If you have one then make sure you keep checking the bin and consider an alternative brand if you are looking for one.

Does not shred 12 sheets and stops after 3 mins!

Not impressed at all with this shredder. It came late after I specifically ordered as a PRIME delivery next day, it took 3 days. It jammed when shredding anything more than 5 sheets of normal A4 paper and did not like 2 payslips! Goodness knows how’s its supposed to shred cds! Stopped shredding on one complete side and we had to try and clear it. Then to top it all the entire thing stopped working after about 5 mins. In fairness, the manufacturer does say not to use it for more than 3 mins but I hadn’t noticed that on the write up and didn’t expect that. Probably ok if all you are doing is shredding a couple of sheets once a day! UPDATE. Shredder has now completely broken after infrequent use after 6 months. Waste of money, avoid.
