I set the books in the rugged ranch land of the Texas Panhandlewhere I visited my grandparents on their farm every summer when I was akid growing up. They're gone now, but the memories live on.
Remember: Life's too short NOT to love a Texan!

I enjoyed this book very much. In fact I had already read it but enjoyed it so much I read it again. I recommend it to all adults. I haven't read the next one in this series but am about to get started on it.
The Doctor Wears a Stetson tells us about Jessie Kincaid who has always had a crush on Cameron McCade. She was an innocent 15 year old when she went to the prom with Cameron, and she realized she loved him. He had feelings for Jessie too but wasn't changing his plans to go to college and become a doctor. She was heartbroken when he left town without saying goodbye. Jessie tried to forget about him and went on with her life working as a mechanic in her father's garage, got married, then widowed. Things were fine for her until Cameron came back for his mother's birthday party 17 years later. When they met again they were still very attracted to each other but Jessie tried to stay away from Cameron because she promised her dead husband to do a few things which prevented her from getting together with Cameron.
I thought Jessie was an odd character and she was hard to like. I understand that she didn't date and didn't have a mother but she did have other female role models growing up. Her innocence was a bit extreme. And her constant way of thinking up why she couldn't do stuff was annoying. She blamed herself for everything that went wrong ANYWHERE which was irritating. Cameron was pretty self centered at first but became a likable character about half way through the novel. The characters really didn't appeal to me. I also found it unbelievable that Jessie fell in love with Cameron when she was 15 and still loved him 17 years later even though she hadn't seen or heard from him during that entire time.
I liked the story line of a couple finding each other again after many years apart. This was an enjoyable book.
From their first date in high school at Cameron's prom, Jessie and Cam have chemistry that is off the charts. However, Cam has plans and they don't involve Salt Fork and as soon as he graduates he is gone. 17 years later he comes to town for his mom's birthday party and when sees Jessie those 17 years disappear, but he has the new job opportunity and his life in Houston. Sticking to his plans is what he did best. Jessie had big plans for her life, but life had other plans for her. She has lost her mom, dad, and her husband TR and now Cam is back in town and he came to her garage after car trouble, it is like their first and only date was yesterday. She wouldn't let him break her heart...again. Plus, what about her dead husband, she wasn't a good wife in life she couldn't be unfaithful in death. Cam and Jessie cannot resist each other though they do everything in their power to resist, especially Jessie. It is fun to read about the dance these two do as they try to fight this attraction they have, however can Jessie get over her guilt and can Cam finally settle?? Loved this story and enjoyed all the characters in this quaint small town. Definitely picking up the rest of this series...
Why put your characters in the bedroom if you aren't going take your readers to a completion. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!! Going to return this disappointment to the Kindle library where it should die a horrible death!
I gave this four stars because it was engaging and pretty well written. However this "sweeter version" is pretty much rated R verses rated X. I was shocked to read how erotic this book was. I like intense romance but not this level of graphic lust. I can't imagine what her original version of this book is like. Not much profanity though there was some use of the D-word.
This is the story of Jessie, a woman who fell in love with Cameron when she was a teen and he took her to his prom. He was a few years older and left her to go to medical school. She married TR but he died and she continued to work as a mechanic in the garage her dad left her. Cameron came back for his moms birthday and they reconnected. Not a great story but well written. It is part of a series but I admire the author as she did end this story and didn't leave the reader hanging.
