I just received my Adipose stress toy and love it. Yes there is a different smell to him, not bad, just a little strange.

He is very sticky though, but I have a solution for you.
Rinse in cold water, dry thoroughly (pay special attention to his little armpits) and then place him in a bag with a little cornstarch.
Shake vigorously and then tap off the extra when you remove him. Voila, no more sticky!!! This also tames the smell a little bit.

Far more user friendly my husband says.

Much nicer now to have him on my desk and randomly squeeze.

The Adipose stress toy is bigger than most stress balls, and a very good representation of the cute little aliens from Doctor Who. It is very very squeezable, but the "goes back to its original shape" claim is a little off. It either takes a long time or doesn't happen, depending on what position you leave the little guy in. It's easy enough to hand-mold him back into shape, though. He's not solid foam, more of a balloon material partially filled with a flour-like substance. His surface is a bit tacky to the touch, but washable with soapy water. He smells a bit funny. But for all those little drawbacks, I really don't care. He's just what I wanted in an Adipose.

When I saw this Adipose Stress Toy, I needed it! When I received this Adipose Stress Toy, I was a bit disappointed. For one, the little mouth is barely painted on (it really looks terrible) and one of the eyes is very smudged (it's more like a feathered oval than a circle). For the price tag, this thing should look awesome! Two, this little guy smells very badly of rubbery chemical-ness. Three, it is very tacky when you squeeze it (like if you threw it at the wall it would probably stick) and it picks up all kinds of little fuzzies and what-not. I understand that it's a little glob of fat, but still! I wish that it looked as adorable as it does in the picture, but sadly, it does not :(

Ok, so it's really really cute. And it's fun to play with (squish in your hands) in order to keep your hands busy. It's a sort of balloon material that's filled with wet powder or something. When you squeeze it in certain ways, you can see the insides (see photos). I'm a bit worried that it will tear at some point and the wet powder will go all over my clothes. It also has a weird sort of alcoholic smell to it and when it first arrived it was super sticky. I washed it with soap and put it in a bag of rice, which helped with the stickiness.

I'm not a Dr.Who fan, but my sister showed me this little fella, and now he's chilling on my computer desk. I was a little apprehensive at first about ordering after seeing some of the reviews, but here's what I've found out.

- I saw the trick with cornstarch, but tried baby power (cornstarch powder) instead, and it took care of the smell and sticky feeling all in one go. Just let him sit in a bag of it for a few minutes, then dusted him off (didn't rinse, didn't need to...). Smells baby butt fresh and isn't globbing up with my dog's hair. He felt exactly as I figured he would, like a squeezy toy, not just a foam stress ball. He isn't that at all.

- As far as the "exploding" thing goes, he's too darn cute, so I'm not going to just squeeze him super hard, but some moderate handle has proven no problem at all. I can, however, see the seams where he was filled on the bottoms of his little feet, so I'll make sure to take care with that.

- The only thing I was a bit bummed with was the painting on the face, his little tooth was lopsided, but nothing that's going to deter me from lovin' the little fella. I didn't expect perfection, since it isn't a figurine or something of that sort. If it had been a solid surface to paint, rather than something squishy, I'd have been a bit pickier about it.

Over all, he's just too stinkin' cute. 5/5

It smells awful! I tried putting it in the wash to see if it would help with the smell, but it only made it worse- and now my clothes smell like it, too. My friends and I cut it open to see where the stench was coming from, and a stream of cream cheese-esque filling came out, making my entire bathroom smell as well as my hands. The only person who would enjoy this is Pig Pen, from Peanuts. Because he smells very bad, much like this toy. If you simply must have am Adipose doll, I recommend the plush version. It only smells bad if you make it smell bad.

Overall, I do not recommend this product unless you have no sense of smell or you enjoy your eyes watering from the awful smell.

I am big Doctor Who fan and love the Adipose episode. My son first bought one of these for me for Christmas and I was so happy! It looks and feels just like one would expect from an Adipose. The only down side is living in a dry environment. Within a week of having it and squeezing on him, he deflated. I bought another one, and the same thing happened, only within a day. Since then, I've purchased two more, one that I keep out of the box but don't touch, and another that I keep in the box. It makes me sad that they crack and deflate so easily.

I purchased this for my boyfriend who is a big Doctor Who fan. It's super cute and squishy. Everyone wants to molest it, which unfortunately makes it gather germs. It gets dirty quickly but you can wash it with soap and water. A friend squeezed it too hard and it pooped out some white ooz... but its just so darn cute so I'm getting him another one.
