Admittedly, I did fear a repetition of 'Victory of the Daleks'(the third Doctor Who Episode in the first series featuring Matt Smith as the Doctor) but I am very pleased that this is not the case at all. The only similarity is that it's about Daleks playing some part in a World War but that is where it ends (although there are some fun inclusions of cameos from the TV episode but those I am sure are included only for the nutty fans like me who watch and read anything with the word "dalek" in it).

The Daleks are back. This story features the Copper and Bronze Daleks from the RTD era and in my view that is a good thing, as I can't help but feel that the new Paradigm has been a bit of a mistake. But not just those, we even get a quasimodo Dalek (and once you've seen it, I'm sure you will agree on the name) and hords of so-called Proto Daleks, which are robotic versions of a Dalek (no Squid type lifeform inside). All a recipe for an enjoyable read, as the Daleks have ensured both parties in the First world War Conflict produce these proto Daleks.

There are actually two plotlines, one taking place in 2017 and another in 1917 (during the Great War). It's Doctor Who, so the future plotline takes place before the main story occurring in 1917. I remembered another kind of "Dalek Project" in the serial "the evil of the Daleks" from 1966. In this serial events took place in 1966 and 1866. No similarities otherwise, but still I like it very much when writers know their Who history and add such details like exactly a century in-between as an extra bonus for the long-time fans, while not distracting from the story for new comers.

The Doctor is executed very well here, characterised as Matt Smith had shown him to be in the series, so that is great.

Nothing special. Usually Justin Richards is a fantastic Doctor Who author but this one falls flat. One of my larger complaints is that at no point does the Doctor sound like the 11th Doctor. Richards fails to capture the whirling dervish, crazy babble, silly greatness that is Matt Smith's Doctor. In some of the original promo art, I have seen for this book, displayed 10th Doctor; perhaps in haste they replaced Tennant with Smith without the much needed altering to the dialog. In addition, the Dalek's plan is far from inspired. I many points I found myself perplexed as to why the Dalek's were doing what they were. In the end it is great to see more comics staring the beloved 11th Doctor and on that premise alone I purchased it but the story was very disappointing. At wasn't bad...wasn't great...but wasn't bad.

Landing in early 21st century France, the (eleventh) Doctor is pleased to find an archaeological dig going on. However, when he gets a look at what they are digging up, he becomes a lot less pleased. It seems that a group of Daleks have been laying low since World War 1, and they are now ready to emerge. It seems that the Daleks have been messing around in Earth’s history for centuries, and it is high time that the Doctor put a stop to it!

Overall, I found this to be a very entertaining graphic novel. True, this presentation of the Justin Richards’ Doctor is a little flatter than I would have expected, but I enjoyed the story so very much that I really did not mind. Indeed, I think that any fan of Doctor Who will like this book.

The illustration work is very good indeed, and the story is nothing short of excellent. I really enjoyed this book and don’t hesitate to recommend it!

The story is amazing and are a lot of makeshift daleks in it and it's the best dalek battle I have seen since "doomsday".
