Dispel intergalactic and earthly darkness with your trusty torch! Authentically modeled after the Doctors legendary device, seen on the hit BBC-America series Doctor Who, this handy flashlight shines a bright blue beam through light-emitting diodes wherever you point it.

Having said that, it doesn't feel cheap. It feels well made.
It doesn't have any noise or moving parts (except for the on off switch). It has a flash light on the end which is blue. The light is pretty bright and shouldn't be pointed at someone's face.
I have 2 young children (6 and 4) who play with this constantly. It seems to hold up pretty well. I think the lack of moving parts makes it stronger and harder to break. The lack of sound makes this one of mommy's favorite toys for them too ;)
I agree with other reviews about the battery. This is the second Doctor Who screwdriver we've had (the first being the Master's Laser Screwdriver). Both of them use those silly button cell batteries. I think in this one in particular a double or triple A batter would have served it much better.

His mother is cutting down an old suit she found in a charity shop, so I thought I'd get this as it's a "cut down" screwdriver, about 2/3rds the size of a real one, but that suits him as he's only about 4 feet tall, and it's light enough that that he will be able to hold it and wave it around all evening.
OK it doesn't make a noise, but it is a decent little torch. The blue-white LED is quite bright and lights the area very evenly, indeed more evenly than some considerably more expensive torches I own.
When compared to the toy or replica sonics this is about ⅔ the size.
There are no sound effects or different light patterns, just a single bright blue LED which is quite powerful.
As a novelty for collectors or fans this is very nice.
It's also great for picking out the David Ten-inch fans from the crowd.
