What can we do?
"When the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?" the psalmist asks.
Read this timely book to discover the remedy. Rather than just curse the darkness, Pastor Matthew Trewhella turns to Scripture and church history to unveil the God-prescribed blueprint for turning tyranny on its head and establishing once again, "one nation under God" and "liberty and justice for all." The bleakness fades in the illumination of divine truth, and in the faith to trust God's promises for what ails us.

Trewhella’s book has some strong points but is disappointing for several reasons. He missed the most important act of interposition in history, Christ’s interposition between the wrath of God and the Elect. He missed several others which were significant in modern history.
While he mentioned Duplesis de Mornay, reputed author of Vindiciae Contra Tyrannos (1579), he failed to discuss the circumstances around this work, the wars of the Huguenots. I paraphrase R.J. Rushdoony’s comments. This work was considered by John Adams as one of the most influential publications during the era on the eve of the War for Independence. Four tenets were established. First, any ruler who commands anything contrary to the law of God thereby forfeits his realm. Second, rebellion is refusal to obey God, for we ought to obey God rather than man. To obey the ruler who commands contrary to God’s law is the real rebellion. Third, since God’s law is the fundamental law and the only true source of law, neither king nor subject is exempt from it, war is sometimes required in order to defend God’s law against the ruler.Read more ›
