A simple, natural and efficient solution!
More than 200,000 users are already falling asleep with Dodow. Amongst them, those who have difficulties getting to sleep (aged 6 years and up); restless mind, stress, chronic insomnia, depression, waking up in the night, insomnia due to pregrancy etc…
Tap the touch-sensitive surface once for the 8- minute mode, twice for the 20-minute mode. A blue light appears on the ceiling. Gently synchronise your breathing: Inhale when the light expands...
...then exhale when the light retracts. You may notice that the exhalation is deliberately longer. This will help create a sensation of tiredness which is conductive to falling asleep.
At the end of the exercise (8 or 20 minutes) Dodow switches itself off. You’ll be in the ideal body state to fall asleep naturally, in whatever position you like.
Slow your metabolism down
By synchronising your (abdominal) breathing with the pulsing light, Dodow progressively takes your breathing down from 11 to 6 breaths per minute.
The rate of 6 RPM is also used in what is called cardiac coherence exercises. According to several studies, the rhythm is the rate that maximizes stimulation of the baroreflex.
The (very) slow breathing rate, at the cardiac coherence rhythm, really slows down your metabolism and your body will be completely relaxed.
Reduce your flow of thoughts
What's more, concentrating on the pulsing halo on the ceiling has a hypnotic effect. Dodow’s soft blue light (brightness < 1 lux) allows your body to relax, without inhibiting melatonin production. You can choose between the 3 different brightness intensities.
You’ll keep your brain busy with an actvitity a lot less distracting and exciting than the thoughts that are keeping you awake.
The individual having difficulty falling asleep may not have the power to stimulate an effective relaxation response on his or her own. Dodow is easy to switch on, simple to use and placed near the bed, making the process much easier.

Revolutionise your sleep!
How did you come up with the idea for this product?
The dangers of using sleeping pills led Alex, chronic insomniac, to look for other solutions to falling asleep more easily. He discovered that regulating breathing was at the heart of practices such as meditation, yoga, sophrology and cardiac coherence. Numerous studies have shown that breathing is actually one of the best tools to help reduce stress and mental turmoil. After many long months of meditative practice, his problems were solved. With Pierre and Gui, industrial designers, Alex wondered how he could also help the 8 million French insomniacs succeed in getting to sleep faster using a breathing method – without having to go through the long months of practice!
What makes your product special?
The best solutions for getting to sleep like hypnosis, cognitive behavioural therapy or meditation unfortunately require a lot of personal or financial investment. Dodow however is incredibly simple and can even be used by a 6 year old. It’s a relatively low-cost solution long term in comparison to sleeping pills or melatonin which require monthly expenditure. Dodow doesn’t require renewing and there are absolutely no secondary effects on your body.
What has been the best part of your experience?
One story that still makes us giggle is the time when Pierre-Luc took a Blablacar to go home for Christmas – and the driver Jean-Louis turned out to be an ex-insomniac saved by Dodow! The feedback we receive every day really motivates us. Numerous insomniacs have managed to wean themselves off sleeping pills progressively thanks to Dodow – and well that’s the best thing we could hope for :)

1. It will not put you to sleep. It brings you to a relaxed state, where the body is ready to sleep. Then after the session you go to sleep. I see reviews asking "how will that put me to sleep when my eyes are wide open?" or "I'm a side sleeper I can't see the light on the ceiling." Folks you are misunderstanding how the product is supposed to work.
2. This device has nothing to do with Circadian rhythms. I see a lot of people comment that the blue light is bad for sleep. But this device does not target the Circadian component of sleep. This is a relaxation device. If your sleep issue is due to stress/anxiety then this device will help you a lot. If your sleep issue is because of DSPD or some other disorder then it may not help you at all. My sleep issues were caused by anxiety and I was unable to relax, so this device worked for me.
Well, it works. For the past week whenever I wake up at 3am, I reach over and touch the Dodow and time my breathing to the light. The need to focus and concentrate on the light consumes my thoughts and crowds out everything else I might be thinking, and effectively "bores" me to sleep. It doesn't even take me eight minutes--within a couple minutes my eyes are droopy and I'm drifting out. Amazing, definitely a keeper.
Caveat: The marketing makes it sound like the Dodow is some calming device that will gently lull you to sleep like a baby's lullaby. It's not. It feels like work. The light is somewhat harsh, and your eyes don't want to look at it. But if you put in the work, if you focus, and if you really commit to timing your breaths and avoiding excessive thinking, it really does work. (Really, this is how all basic meditation works--the Dodow just gives you something visual to focus on.)
It arrived quickly, and we read through the instructions together. I let kiddo install the batteries and test it, to get 'buy-in'. It took me about 20 minutes to get it set up in the bedroom, taking the time to get it in just the right location and adjust the nightlight and ambient lighting to make the room dark enough.
Kiddo fell asleep the first night within 15 minutes. I peeked in around midnight and realized the room was utterly quiet. I hadn't realized that Kiddo was also a noisy sleeper--lots of tossing and turning, heavy mouth breathing, even sleep-talking. I guess we'd just grown used to it. But that night was eerily quiet. Kiddo woke the next morning having slept through the entire night, maybe the 10th time ever.
We've had it for 2 1/2 weeks now, and every night has been like the first. Kiddo falls asleep quickly each night, and sleeps straight through til morning most of the time. We traveled for the holidays, and I noticed the Dodow was the first thing Kiddo packed.
I am so grateful for this device, the much-needed sleep it brings to my child, and the happy, smart, focused kid it gives me by day.
I do NOT take any Rx medication but have used OTC stuff before. When I read about this little sllep aid, I thought why not give it a try. It arrived quickly and like others have commented , packaged nicely. It is small enough to take up very little room on your night table. I find it reassuring to having it there when I feel like I need som help falling asleep. It is excellent for learning to focus and control your breathing. It is relatively inexpensive and all I can say is GIVE IT A TRY. After all the other things out there this is my favorite. An excellent company and some informative videos on Youtube.
