Though I may not generally worry about my looks, even today I can hear the hurtful words of racism, sexism, competition, the cruelty of malicious gossip and the razors edge of love lost and soured.
And sometimes, it still hurts.
Because I forgot....I am "God's girl, you have been made with a plan and a purpose"
This book reads easily and is filled with empathy, compassion, and truth grounded in Scripture. Moncia Schmelter gives women everywhere the hammer they need to break the World's Mirror and remember that God says they are worth so much more.
"Does This Make Me Look Fat" is a must read for every woman!
Answering these questions and introducing women and girls to the mirror of God's Love is at the core of Monica's powerful testimony and the subject of her new book 'Does This Make Me Look Fat?'. Having struggled with the same insecurities, emotions, and weight issues that we all face, she shares with us the heartfelt truths that she has found in God's love and His word. Monica delves into the real meaning of what it is to see ourselves, and in turn the world, as God sees us. Speaking friend-to-friend, she leads us on this path of rediscovery in a way that leaves little doubt that she is speaking directly from her heart to ours.
'Does This Make Me Look Fat?' is more than a book, it is a powerful and life-changing journey that will change the lives of women and girls for generations to come.
As a woman who has struggled with weight and image issues, I believe this is a very timely book for many women who have had the same or similar struggles, or knows someone who has. Too often, we allow society to shape our thinking concerning how we should dress, what's "in" and how our body image measures up. Monica hits the nail on the head by addressing so many of the things we deal with on a daily basis. This book will be a help and a blessing to anyone who does not yet understand that, according to the word of God, "God loves us with an everlasting love", (Jer. 31:3) and we are "accepted in the beloved" (Eph. 1:6)...regardless of what we look like. Let the mirror of God's word be the standard we live by, not what society says or even what we may tell ourselves.
