There is a little bit of noise from the focal plane shutter. Though it's not as bad as with a conventional SLR's mirror flap.

Yes, this camera does have a physical shutter that does produce noise. The Camera Labs video review has a section democtrating the "drive mode" so that you can hear the sound it will make.

I know a couple of cameras have "silent mode" for their shutters, however with any camera of this size, ninja pics may be a bit harder to pull off.
