It immediately helped a dog we adopted a week ago with some of the above habits! Mouthy, spastic, bossy, 1 year old Malinois is now much calmer. Now, consistency is the key and continued work. Wow, day 1 made tremendous changes in minutes really. Think like a dog, read and understand more, watch how dogs talk to each other. You will learn a lot and be prepared to have some things you think you know turned on its head!
Dog Myths is short, to the point, and chock full of information that I wish I had known when I got my first dog. The information about how dogs use their senses to communicate is alone worth the price of the book.
If you have a dog, with or without issues, or are getting a dog... Buy. this. Book!
It will help you have a better relationship with your dog and will help your dog have a better life...with out having to always have treats on you....or be overly aggressive.
Thank you, Garrett Stevens!
Garrett focuses on how to observe, interpret, and interact with your dog in order to establish a healthy relationship. This relationship not only serves as the foundation for training, but also for building a strong bond and loving partnership with your dog.
Garrett very clearly explains the importance of learning how dogs naturally behave with one another from birth, with their parents, siblings, and other dogs. And in turn, how to effectively behave with your dog in the language they naturally understand and respond to.
Take the time to read this book and adopt the behaviors and attitudes Garrett puts forth. I did, and I started having better interactions and a healthier relationship with my puppy literally within one day.
With Garrett’s methodology there are no treats, no bribery, and no time wasted on exhausting, fruitless training methods that don’t work.
Garrett’s clear instruction and meaningful, intuitive explanations of dog behavior will change how you think about and live with your pup, and the rewards are immeasurably positive. I can’t recommend this book more emphatically!
