So only about half the book is spent on teaching cute tricks, but I liked how she explained them.
This may not be the only book on tricks that I purchase, since I have one circus dog, but I am happy to have this one.
The unique feature is a questionnaire that shows your dog's highest drive. Drive will determine what your dog excels at, so will do well or easily, and where he will have trouble, so will have more trouble mastering. Each "trick" or trick has a short but thorough explanation about the drive which is most used in learning it. The explanation runs from one to three paragraphs. I found this the most useful information and helped me decide which to train first, but more so, knowing my dog's highest drives helped me understand why he seemed to learn one thing in a matter of two reps vs why it's been 2 weeks, and he's still stumbling with what seems to be a pretty straightforward task.
The prey drive questionnaire and explanation of the drives and then the explanations of which drives with regard to each trick/task is priceless. The four drives in the "canine personality test" are Prey Drive, Pack Drive, Defense/Fight Drive, and Defense/Flight Drive.
I think this info on the drives and which tasks tend to best motivate a dog with certain drives to be invaluable. I just love this book!
