I loved this book! What would have been a worthy love story between two people made for one-another was spiced up by strange goings-on in their small town.
Shay and Ace are both moonlighting. She's a romance novelist who freelances as a journalist to pay the bills. He's a photojournalist who spends all his free time rescuing animals as a labor of love. The two of them are well on their way to getting over everything that's holding them back from finding love when things get interesting in Ugly Creek.
Not that Ugly Creek wasn't interesting on its own--there's a dog-napper on the loose and some mythical creatures are afoot. Oh, yeah, and Shay's cousin is secretly a shapeshifter (human/dog), which makes for some true hilarity that I won't get into specifically because, no spoilers :)
Overall, this book was well-written with some really unique and well-executed twists and turns. I'll be reading more from this author! It's a standalone in a series, so no need to read in order.
