There is nothing spectacular or novel in this short little book, but it nonetheless will be valuable to the person who puts it to use. What I liked was the short and to-the-point chapters (what the author calls "laws"), many of which contained exercises at the end to get you thinking about how the topic can be applied to your own life. There are 25 of these "laws" and for the most part they cover well-known territory. In other words the material which is not breathtakingly original is brought to gather well and organized to allow the reader to put it to effective use. It's a practical book. The author illustrates his points with examples from his own life, which is at times inspiring.

If you are looking to do something different with your life and get some motivation and direction then I think this little volume will be useful to you. If you just read a bunch of success type books and are looking for something new you probably won't find it here.

I've read my fair share of self help, business minded books. I even grabbed quite a few books from Borders before it closed its doors. This book wasn't on the shelves yet. But I have to say I really loved this book. It lacks the additional fluff that most authors put into the pages. It's very direct and to the point which I like coming from a military background. It's not the next big thing, or how to get rich overnight. Whatever your line of work is or possible business or goal you want to achieve, I'd recommend this book simply for the fact it reminds you of the hardwork you'll have to do and the faith you'll have to have, but not see. I promise you that you will recommend this book to others and your conversation will be which "Law" you liked the most and why.

"Doing the Impossible" has great topics that motivate, inspire, and focus on self-awareness and self-improvement. Patrick Bet-David's life story as it is told serves as an example of a dream fulfilled. It's been told that achievers have always been dreamers. Dreams that seem impossible at first, but nevertheless, were achieved by perseverance and hard work.
This book is truly the accomplishment of Patrick Bet-David, who struggled with many obstacles in his life but accomplished the impossible. A powerful read packed with inspiring quotes. It is also filled with humor, and wonderful advice to get anyone up and moving and becoming all they can be. I recommend this book to people of all ages and backgrounds. It is uplifting and enlightening. I am glad I read it and you will be too.

"Doing the Impossible" is a surprisingly powerful, and a little quirky, self-help book, with a clear slant to the budding entrepreneur. The author Bet-David is an immigrant, and at many times, his love affair for the American dream is overtly obvious. The overall theme seems to come from the traditional belief that in America, a motivated individual can still make a difference. Ideas like "you can do anything if you put your mind to it" and "greatness can happen to anyone" abound throughout.

With themes like this, it would be easy to fall into trite encouragements and oft-repeated platitudes, but the author manages to deliver more. The book is divided into "25 Laws for Doing the Impossible" and while some of the short chapters cover well-tread ground, there are nuggets throughout - and a few unexpected laughs. Bet-David has a love affair with sports and American heroes, and his citations and examples make for an entertaining read. Chapters like "Protect your credibility score" and "Embrace your frustrations" give solid advice in a very how-to context. The book even gives you space to write your own thoughts IN the book so that it serves as a practical workbook, which of course doesn't help if you read the Kindle version.

There are many business books out there and "Doing the Impossible" manages to be a good intellectual exercise as well as a reminder of solid life-lessons.

We all need a good shot of encouragement on a regular basis. This book provides just that. One thing that I love is that the author has found success through applying the very principles that he teaches others. He wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth and had to overcome many challenges to get to where he is today.

I found myself highlighting the things that resonated the most with me. Here are a few of my favorites:

"Part of daring to achieve the impossible is letting failure motivate you rather than discourage you." This is important because a natural tendency that many people, myself included have is to quit when things go wrong. I like the fact that this book encouraged me to use failure in a positive way.

"Building your identity is about earning that identity. It is about doing the hard work, seeking the information, and transforming yourself from the inside out into the person you envision becoming."

I appreciate the hard work aspect that's found in this book. So often people want results without the work, and the books that promise that really do people a disservice. I'm evaluating my commitment to do the work, and feel motivated to make it happen.

"Think of your associations in terms of assets and liabilities. . . Look for people who have the qualities that you want to develop in your own self and learn from them."

Many authors/speakers encourage people to hang out with rich people if they want to be rich. While there's some truth to that, I love that Bet-David takes it a step beyond in that he looks at multiple areas of life such as faith and marriage. People can add value to our lives in many different ways, and it's important to look beyond just the financial side of things.
