This was $119 at Sams Club. After much consideration, we decided to try it out because Sam's Club has such a great return policy. Well, we wont be returning it. My kids - ages 7 and 8 - have had more fun with this scooter in the pool. Im not sure why the negative reviews, but perhaps it doesnt ship well. Anyway Sam's Club lets you return an item at anytime if it breaks, so we will be sticking with it. The charge does take quite some time, but lasts forever - the kids have used it a whole day it seems and the packaging said something like 30 minutes.

Most of the Sea Doo Sea Scooters are designed for use by scuba divers and snorkelers in the Ocean. This model, the Dolphin, is intended for use in the pool. For that reason, it is positively bouyant (i.e., it floats) and it is very easy to install and remove the battery. Sea Doo's more expensive ocean models can be made neutrally or negatively bouyant, and use a special pump to pop open the battery compartment.

It is a ton of fun to use at the pool and always draws a crowd.

My only complaint is the battery. If you don't charge it every 30 days, it'll die in just a few months. Even if you do charge it every 30 days, the batteries often don't last more than a year. And Sea Doo charges $75.00 + shipping and handling to replace them.

Save yourself some money when that happens: Disconnect the old battery from the Dolphin. Cut off the wires that come out of the original battery, one at a time, as close to the battery as possible. Make sure you use a cutting tool that has insulated handles, or wear gloves, when you do so.

Then buy a TR7.5-12A battery with F2 connectors and some F2 female spade lug connectors for about $18. You can buy them from a ton of online stores including Amazon.com. Connect the lug connectors to the end of the wires by stripping a small section off the wires, inserting them into the lug connectors, and crimping them, and then attach them to the battery.

Voila! You've got the very same $75.00 battery for $18.00.

Its a shame I had to give this product only 2 stars because it the most fun we have ever had with a pool toy.. The very first time we used the unit, water penetrated the trigger causing it to stay on until the battery died. I contacted the seller who took a week to reply and told me to send it out for repair to another party. It cost me $20 to ship out. Three weeks later I got it back. The trigger situation was fixed but the unit was still taking on water and sinking. I contacted seller, they took another week to respond and told me to send it back to them. I shipped it out again, this time it cost $25. Many weeks later seller sends me an email stating that
A) the unit was misused and dropped on its nose
B)its too scratched up so they cant resell it.
C) the unit is fine, it doesnt fill up with water
They offered to ship it back or reimburse me $40. Wow! I already have over $200 into it. Do you think I was going to accept that insult. They lied about my treatment of the unit and that it didnt fill up with water.
They were obviously trying to get out of their obligation to warranty the product that was documented as defective from the very first time I used it.
I filed a claim against them with Amazon. So far the seller agreed to give me only $75. i appealed my claim and am awaiting the result.
I dont know if Amazon will delete this but do not buy this product from the seller MedelsOp.
The sad thing is I will probabaly purchase another one because it was so much fun. Judging by the reviews it seems a 50/50 chance that you will get a good one.
Against the warnings of many reviewers I went ahead and purchased an aftermarket spare battery. Im pretty handy with electrical componets so I figured I would be able to find the connectors to make it work. WRONG. Im stuck with a battery I cannot use. The connectors are impossible to match

It took in water the first time we used it. It will not seal properly and Amazon does not allow for returns or exchanges on this item. Don't buy from Amazon.

We just bought a second one of these - the kids were having so much fun with the first, we had to get another. The battery takes a while to charge, but it lasts a long time. I think the product description says 1.5 hours and that sounds about right. The kids wish it went a little faster, but still, it is lots of fun in our pond. Someone reviewed it and said that it sinks, but ours does not. If the kids let go, it does float - which is good, so we can't lose it.

Your kids will love this! It seems to work best for those weighing under 175 pounds but it will propel heavier adults but just don't expect to fly through the water like your kids. Charge after every use!

Purchased this one for $166 at Scuba.com (not sure why so high here at Amazon).
Nonetheless, my grandkids (5 and 8) absolutely love it. It does pull them through the pool very well and my eldest one enjoys the underwater action. I myself weigh about 200 lbs and it pulls me through the water (though a bit slower).
The battery compartment doesn't leak (as long as you take the time to silicone the rubber seal each time you open the compartment). It does last about 1 1/2 hours on a full charge as advertised. Don't be concerned with the advertised weight -it is quite bouyant in the water.
My only complaint is the battery. Apparently, you can order a spare battery, but the spare doesn't come with the leads to be able to plug your spare into the charger (thus if you just order the spare, you'll really only be able to use the spare if you cut the leads on your main battery and solder them to your spare). I managed to find some leads from another source and am able to purchase a true spare battery for about $20 here on Amazon). I rate at 4stars because of the hassle you have to go through to have two working batteries at the same time. As for the charging time, it's never taken over 12 hours to fully charge. Overall, I'm pleased.
