Mia Danvers is a reporter who previously misled the M/T team more specifically Case Taggart by lying about who/what she was up to but it was all for a valid reason. Mia having realized she can't get the enigmatic Dom out of her head seeks out Case to explain what she knows...
Case Taggart is literally missing his other half since his twin brother -Theo was killed in the line of duty. Case is out for vengeance and wants to tear apart Hope McDonald for her part in what happened to his brother but when the reporter shows up from before with unbelievable information he has cause to reevaluate. If there is even the slightest chance that Theo is still alive Case will do anything to save him. Case and Mia set out with a team on a South American adventure that is filled with danger/lies/sex/laughs.
This series just keeps reinventing itself becoming the one series that makes me excited and interested like it's brand new over and over again! The author never fails to write engaging characters that I can't help but fall in love with from the hard core alphas to the sweet subs she nails it every time. Can't wait for Theo's book next :)
It's eight months later, and Mia Lawless Danvers has worked tirelessly to find a way back into the man she loves arms. She's done just that, she's found proof that Theo is alive and she knows where he is. But when she confronts Case to tell him the news, he's not quite as receptive to the news as she'd hoped, so she takes herself off with a bodyguard and attempts to chase down the lead herself. But, after having some sense talked into him, Case meets up with Mia and stalls her departure, assuring he and his team are with her on the hunt for his brother.
Things turn typically crazy as they do in a Masters and Mercenaries novel, there is attempted kidnappings, feisty subbies, people getting shot, misunderstandings, more kidnappings. Just a typical outing in Lexi's books, but a grand adventure that I loved every second, including all of the hot, kinky sex and McKay-Taggart team fun she's known for.
I didn't know how I'd feel about Case and Mia as a couple since they didn't connect for me in earlier books but their story flowed surprisingly well. Even though they met under deceit, this time they started from scratch-a couple of times at least-before Case finally got his head screwed on straight and went after what he really wanted. The misunderstandings between them, the hysterical male bonding advice from Ian and the gang, even Erin's clinical assessments of the ops and reactions were well-balanced in between updates on Theo, the McKay-Taggart family, and Dr. McDonald's evil machinations.
The latest book in the Masters and Mercenaries series feels like a wild ride of suspense and action from start to finish and one I found quite exhilarating! I'm on pins and needles waiting to see what happens next for the Taggarts and the Lawless family!
Ian has been my very favorite character from book one, even though at that time I didn't see it coming how funny the man actually was LOL He's got some good one liners in this book too. I loved both Case and Mia and I can't wait for Theo's story now. October cannot come soon enough!!! Is that poor boy on a total loop or what?? Poor Erin, she'll be like Adam Sandler in 50 First Dates, except that she'll have to explain to poor Theo what is up every 20 minutes as opposed to every morning when he wakes up!!!
