So it's been snowing in DC quite a bit and with this all day storm approaching I decided to take this thing out to walk my dog that morning. Well, a short walk turned into 2+ hours in the nonstop snow and when I got back I snapped the couple pics that I uploaded. I liked that it was beading on the outside canvas and when I opened it up it was bone dry on the inside! So that for me made this bag a 2 thumbser upper! I also purchased the F-901 pouch to allow me to stow my Note 4 with OtterBox cover since the phone is huge and I wanted easy access to it while walking.
The bag gives that immediate broken in feel, wraps well along the body, as I wear it cross shoulder, messenger style and I appreciate the rubber sewn into the strap. It really stays in place well so I don't have to keep fiddling with it as I do my other bags. I do also own a Think Tank Retrospective 30, which to be fair, is a much larger bag.
Based on the price and the quality of the Domke F-10, I'm definitely going to be trying their other bags without hesitation.
But I've also fit a lot in here as well: D600 with a mounted macro lens (Tokina 100mm) and the Nikon 28-300 in the main compartment; the SB-700 and Nikon 35mm 1.8 in the front pocket; and an assortment of small accessories such as a lens pen, memory cards, etc. Even when carrying multiple items, the bag stays out of my way as I shoot.
It also has no markings from Nikon or Canon or anything else - and while Domke may be known among photography elites, no one on the street has any idea why I'm carrying this bag.
But the reason I returned the bag is that the strap is too short. At max extension the "drop height" is only about 24", too short to comfortably wear cross-body at my height (6'3"). And being a Domke the strap is sewn on and not easily replaceable. If you are 6' or under, this is probably not an issue.
The F-10 is an excellent size. Good padding, useful compartments, and preferred closure system ( I like the metal clip). Not designed as a carry all junk bag for travel unless you are paired to a minimum..
Use it for my LEICA X1, X VARIO, and VLUX114. Also room for Rode and Paansonic mica for video use.
