Comfortable to carry both on and off shoulder, easy to work out of but fastex type buckles would better enable one handed access, the gated hooks don't do that easily.
I was worried the waxwear fabric might have a smell or rub off easily and leave a mess but that is not the case and by its nature it comes sort of broken in looking if being cool at Starbucks is your thing. Comes with extra wax, thats pretty cool.
In mine inside the padded insert Ive got a 7d mkII with the 50mm 1.4 attached and 2 other small/midsize lenses. Outside the padding is 2 Speedlights and IR controller, 2 folded up softboxes in the zippered top, mini tripod, charger, cleaning stuff, and a couple filters. I don't have anything in the outside flap pockets or rear slot so there is room for misc junk every outing.
Can't think of any real cons. Its not set up well to take any real big glass and you either have to just carry a body with no lens or just a small one attached and lay it on its back, the divider is limited. For what you need on a day trip for most users its great. If you want to have a 1dx 70-200IS combo ready to shoot this is not the bag for you. Smaller body, 2 or 3 lenses and accessories with some paperwork, sandwich and an apple its perfect.
What I like most about this bag is that while it does have foam inserts, they are easily adjusted and removed, allowing the bag to be packed flat or rolled up into larger luggage. I typically have a larger camera backpack which I travel with on planes, and I prefer to use just this bag when walking about. And lets face it, we're not traveling with cameras made of balsa wood, we don't need bags with 8lbs of padding. This bag has just enough padding to get the job done.
The only negative would be that because this bag was designed before the advent of digital cameras, there aren't as many small zippered pockets. There's only one on the inside of the flap. But if you have rolls of film there's tons of room! My solution to this was to get a small pouch in which to put all of my smaller knick knacks like memory cards, hot shoe cover, remote, etc.
The material is very nice, numerous pockets, small and large around the bag for storing various items. I do worry that the velcro on the outer pockets will wear prematurely, only time will tell. If you need this size bag you will love this.
I got the postal strap when I ordered the bag, but the large shoulder strap with the rubber on it would probably hold well enough on it's own. The strap is very long too - I wasn't sure when I ordered if if I could go use it cross body, but there is plenty of room (and I am not small)
The waxwear finish is great and keeps rain out - water beads up and rolls off. I carried it through a couple snow storms and didn't have any problems with anything inside getting wet.
