Evangelicals and Donald Trump: A Match Made in Heaven or a Marriage with Hell?

As a Christian, how can you support a president whose present actions and personal history you utterly disagree with? Radio host, Biblical scholar, and social activist, Dr. Michael Brown, represented the collective fears of many evangelical Christians when it became clear that Donald J. Trump would emerge as presidential candidate for the Republican Party.

“How can I support Trump?”

Undeniably, one of the most polarizing figures in American history, Donald Trump is constantly confounding the masses. He wars against “fake news” while creating his own media with “Tweets” that can provoke national dissension and confront unstable foreign relations. With one hand, he’s bringing healing; with the other, it looks like he is hurting.

As an evangelical leader, Dr. Brown steps into the madness to help bring clarity. Even now, many Christians are wondering how to Biblically and morally respond to a Trump presidency. Some are hailing him as “Savior and Chief,” whose every word and action is to be commended; others utterly and completely reject him.
Where is the balance and what is the right response?

Presented with balanced social commentary, theological integrity, and a passion to see America fulfill her divine destiny, Dr. Brown shows you how to:
  • Cautiously support a flawed leader while maintaining allegiance to the lordship of Jesus.
  • Recognize the movement of God that’s present in the Trump presidency.
  • Praise the good and confront the bad when it comes to the president’s actions and decisions.
Whether you are a Trump enthusiast, or you cringe every time you read the headlines, Dr. Michael Brown will spiritually help you navigate the tumultuous waters of the uncertain social and political landscape.

“Donald Trump Is Not My Savior” is a call for Christians to vote their Christian values.
I pre-ordered the hardcover copy of this book directly from AskDrBrown Ministries and received book number 4. The hardcover copy is very attractive, but, more importantly, the information contained in this book is critical for Christians concerned with our society in America.Dr. Brown shares with us his journey from opposing Donald Trump in the primaries to supporting him during the 2016 campaign and now as President. Dr. Brown leads the reader through his decisions with a series of articles he wrote about candidate Trump beginning on August 27, 2015.Like Dr. Brown, I originally supported Ted Cruz in the primaries, but supported Donald Trump as the nominee of the Republican Party. I am a Christian conservative who supports a candidate based on the issues only. I vote for the most conservative candidate period. The issues most important to me are the U.S. Constitution (freedom of speech, freedom of religion, firearm ownership and use, separation of powers, etc.), immigration (enforce our laws, build the wall), terrorism (fighting terrorism, security measures, assisting our allies), abortion (I’m pro-life), and traditional marriage (God’s prescription for marriage is one man and one woman only). For too many years in America, many Christians did not want to involve themselves in politics or even vote. As a result of their inaction, godless liberal policies and attitudes became common in our society. We are still reaping what was sown decades ago. It is the duty of every Christian in America to be informed of the current issues and to vote for candidates closest to the most biblical view of these issues.President Donald Trump is actually accomplishing things that most conservatives support. The standard operating procedure for Republican candidates has been: act like a conservative, talk like a conservative, get elected, give in to the Democrats, and accomplish nothing. The American people are tired of this political cycle and as a result elected Donald Trump to clean up this mess and make America great again. I’m impressed with the success that President Trump has achieved when he’s only been in office for less than two years. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for our great country. May God continue to bless America!I highly recommend “Donald Trump Is Not My Savior” to anyone, especially Christians and conservatives, who have reservations about our President. This book will challenge how you evaluate candidates that you’re going to vote for and support.

I felt the same way about Donald Trump as Michael Brown did in the beginning. He was boisterous, condescending, rude, and not my first choice. I wanted Ben Carson or Ted Cruz as our candidate, but now that I think back on it, maybe those two guys couldn't have won the race against Hillary. Trump could and did, and because he was in-the-face of his opponent, and she pulled out all the stops. He won because he had people who just laughed at his antics because Trump is always Trump. He tells it like he sees it, no glossing over facts, just downright in-your-face Trump,

"Keep your friends close and your enemies closer," was mentioned in the book, and I think that is how Donald Trump just is. He knows that politics is a game, and he plays it without caution because he is a billionaire, and he doesn't care what the media thinks about him, and there is a bias out there against him. Turn on CNN for ten minutes as a conservative, and it will make you crazy to hear the lies.

I know that he was a liberal for years, and his daughter still is. He was friends with the Clintons. That might surprise a few people. He is more in the middle than most people realize, but the left has gone so far to the left, they are becoming hateful to the people in the middle.

I plugged my nose when I voted for Trump, exactly as Mr. Brown did. I knew Hillary would win anyway because the liberal machine is so powerful, and she had the FBI working for her, and of course the former president working for her as well. They were all working behind the scenes to create a scenario in which Trump colludes with Russians and would be out of the presidency in the first few months. That backfired on them, but the Media is still pushing the narrative. Unbelievable!

Why did he win? He won because he was our only choice. Vote for an independent, and you throw your vote away. Vote for Hillary and you are essentially choosing abortion and socialism. What choice did we have? But next time, I won't plug my nose. I will vote with the confidence of a Christian who knows that I am not voting for a saint or a savior, but I am voting for a man who will stand against abortion, unnecessary wars, and a liberal media that is determined to take him out. Yes, that includes NPR, which should not be funded by a single U.S. dollar. If you cannot make it without government money, then you just shouldn't be in the business.

Trump in 2020! I need to buy a MAGA hat, shirt and some pom poms, and of course a sign for my yard.

This was fascinating reading because the author was totally honest and did not try to white wash his original views about the president he came to support. We all change our views on things but don't always want everyone to know our original views. Definitely worth reading even if you don't like our president.

I liked this book, it was not one sided but revealed both sides. To have an open heart to hear what the Spirit of God is saying through all that is happening. A very enjoyable enlightened read. Recommend all to read no matter which side of the aisle you are on.

Michel Brown wisely and thoughtfully comments on the challenge that evangelicals have with Donald Trump. He outlines the strengths of his presidency and the profound weaknesses of the man. In doing so, he presents a clear-thinking view of how Christians should respond to his wrecking-ball actions. He effectively makes the case that, like or not, Christians need to acknowledge the Donald Trump is a man for such a time as this.

One group asks, “As a Christian, how can you possibly vote for such a narcissistic, proud, vulgar, potty-mouthed, short-tempered, inexperienced man who is absolutely unfit for the presidency?” The other group responds, “As a Christian, how can you not vote against Hillary Clinton and how can you not recognize that we’re not electing a pastor in chief but a Commander in Chief ? God is raising up Trump!”

Today, we will be voting for Congress and local governments.

Donald Trump is not on the ballot, but for most Americans, the vote will be a plebiscite on his Presidency.

This book is valuable in assessing his many weaknesses while, acknowledging his many strengths.

Like Dr. Brown, I favored Ted Cruz during the primaries but am glad he lost to President Trump because Cruz would surely have lost to Clinton.

So, whatever happens today, Donald Trump will be President tomorrowand just a fallen man, and Jesus will still be our Savior.

This book will remind Christians that we should never put our trust in any man but in God alone.
