The only flaws with the unit are the battery pack. As one other reviewer wrote, using the springs inside the battery pack for both the positive and negative side of the battery is not the best design. My lamp functioned well out of the box, but expect it to fail prematurely because of this design. The other fault with this unit is the mounting clip used for the battery holder. If it were a fraction shorter in length, it would fit on the OptiVisor more snugly. The current clip allows the battery pack to slide at times. Another addition to this unit, which would make it a little nicer, would be an on / off switch on the battery pack. You currently have to turn the lamp lens to turn the unit off, which is similar to a mini MagLite. Although, this piece is not built nearly as durable as a mini MagLite.
All in all, the pluses outweigh the minuses for this piece. A couple little changes, and it would make it an excellent piece for the price.
Unless you lock you head in a vise, the beam is never where you want it. Every time you remove the visor the battery case falls off the headband. The light beam is so narrow & weak, that it is in effective. Light on the head might be great for a miner, but, a fixed light on the surface with the object is best for this kind if work.

As another buyer suggested, adding a piece of thin foils fixes it, but yet its a failure.

These arrive quickly and were what I ordered. These were recommended by my low vision optometrist and were what I was expecting.Published 2 months ago by John Lydic
Weight is not too bad, light is easily adjustable and very bright, perfect compliment for the visor.Published 3 months ago by Amazon Customer
Functionally, the Lighting is great. I occasionally do Faceting, and needed more light on my stone. Does that great. It's everything else that's the problem. Read morePublished 8 months ago by Tigerman21

Works as advertised, but the clip for the battery pack isn't quite tight enough to keep it in place on the headband of the Optivisor magnifier.Published 17 months ago by Colorado Mac
