Review

Wonderful story with positive Christian values. Loved the illustrations. It's a hit with my kids!
--"Goodreads" reader

A wonderful story for everyone - children and adults alike. Although this is written as a children's book - there is a message for each and every one of us.
--Margaret Fraleigh, "Goodreads" reader

From the Author

If you have read Seventh Dimension - The Door, a Young Adult Christian Fantasy, you will remember that Shale Snyder's favorite childhood book was "The Donkey and the King." The donkey in "The Door" is Baruch - the star in this delightful children's story. Enjoy this prequel for young kids, ages 2-7, and help them to discover "good" hidden throughout the pages of the book.

The Kindle version is all new and updated. The artwork has been rescanned from the original drawings, and the text can be resized for young readers. Click on the artwork on each page, and enlarge the drawing to look for the hidden word "good." "The Donkey and the King" will entertain young ones and help them to become lifelong lovers of books and reading, all while teaching them about Jesus and redemption.

This is a darling tale of a small donkey who leaves his friends and home to better his life, and discovers that there really is a better life - when he makes a new friend who leads him to the best life of all...within the love of the King. I love the warm illustrations and the secret word "good" hidden in all of them. This is a book about happiness and redemption, and will leave readers with a smile in their hearts. Sherrill S. This is a sweet story of Jesus' love and forgiveness. The little animal characters show each other kindness and love. The story tells of the changes in your life when you ask for forgiveness and believe in Jesus the King. My daughter liked finding the "good" hidden on each page. This is a positive life lesson. This book opened alot of conversation between my children and myself. My family loved the very colorful and creative illustrations, they brought true emotions into the characters of this sweet story.

What a sweet little book! I read this with my son last night and it was so wonderful. As a homeschooling parent, I am always looking for wholesome reading material that is not only fun, but holds a deep meaning of faith. This may be written for children, but I fell in love with it! I highly recommend to all parents who are looking for a beautiful read.

Not only is this a great book for children, but it also introduces the animals from the Seventh Dimension series! And tells us about meeting the King! It's a great prelude to The Door, which is coming next... Reminded me of long ago when, when you went to a movie, you got to see a cartoon prior to the main feature! LOL Except this one is directly related to the upcoming story...

Baruch became a Child of the King!
And so did the other animals in the book! I loved it!

Baruch was unhappy living where he was and working as he did...He was missing something and sure would like not to have to carry somebody else's burdens all the time...So he decided to leave... But Baruch was well liked and his friend's tried to get him to stay home. But all Baruch could think about was how free he would be and that he wouldn't have chores everyday...

He was going--he had to--but he said someday he'd be back to see them...

Many of us lose our way due to problems that arise or feelings we have that we believe cannot be discussed even with parents or friends... We may be facing somebody who is a bully when we get to school. Or, maybe the classes are presenting problems--mine was learning higher math--and you know your teacher won't help... Sometimes you just feel like you are all alone and nobody cares...But wait somebody came to find Baruch!

How cool it was to have somebody tell Baruch that somebody loved him...and, guess, what, he loves all of us! And that's why I'm highly recommending this to all of you who have children or small relatives who may not know that the King loves them!

Lorilyn Roberts has written an adorable children's book that has a very happy ending. A donkey named Baruch decides he is tired of working on a farm and opens the gate and leaves. His animal friends beg him to stay but his mind is made up. He has a rather scary journey but fortunately meets a sheep that tells him about a King that loves him. Baruch is very afraid but follows the sheep anyway. He then enters a garden and meets the King. It turns out the King is Jesus. The donkey is very happy to be there and his animal friends are there too. We don't know exactly how his other friends got there but it makes for a happy ending.

A beautifully illustrated little book that tells the story of redemption in a gentle manner that all children (and adults reading to their child) will understand.

Children will love the different animals as they lead the little runaway donkey, Baruch to see that he is much loved by the King, even if he feels he is not worthy of love.

There are a couple biblical storylines alluded to in the book, "The Prodigal Son" being one of them. If I were reading to a child, I would use the book as a jumping off point to also share other Bible stories that fit the message of the book.

I loved the redemptive message of the book, but the illustrations will captivate a child's imagination. It will be a story they will want to read over and over again.

I see this book as one I would definitely read to my grandchildren!

A "winner" for this house. A great story with a very clear message of the real offer of salvation and grace that can be ours if we so choose.

Thanks to the author for a great product.

I was excited to read this story to my daughter. With it being so soon after Easter, we had already discussed that Jesus had come in on a donkey.
I thought it was a good story to share with my daughter. She was able to see the progression of the story. The donkey decided that he had enough of life as it was, and went out on his way to find something better.
Along the way, he goes on an unknown path and ends up getting lost. My daughter could relate to the night sounds, that the donkey heard as he was out on his own. We find out that the King does not want the donkey to be out on his own and so sends for the donkey. The story ends up with the donkey going to the King - wondering what will be in store for him.
My daughter was so taken by the story - and wondered just what would happen now when the donkey came to the King.
As a Sunday School teacher, I love to do the Wordless Book with the children, and think that this would be a great supplement to that story.
