Format: Vinyl
For someone who registered 27 times on the national Billboard Country singles charts from early 1975 to early 1988, including two # 1s and 15 times in the Top 30, Margo Smith (born Betty Lou Miller in Dayton, Ohio in 1942) - and not to be confused with singer Margo B. Smith - has certainly received short shrift since the advent of the CD in the early 1980s - at least insofar as those 27 charting sides are concerned.

No doubt part of the problem is related to the fact that those 27 were accomplished at 6 different labels, starting with 20th Century (the first 3), then Warner Brothers (the next 17), followed by AMI (2), Moon Shine (2), Bermuda Dunes (2) and Playback (1). Along the way she also cut at least 12 LPs at her various stops (6 of them at Warner) and while a couple are available as CDs, they are from much later in her career. So, for those collectors wanting her hits and their B-sides, it remains virtually impossible to find any in that format unless the odd one pops up here and there in multiple-artist compilations.

The LP covered here, for example, was her fourth and third at Warner Brothers after one at 20th Century Fox. Titled "Don't Break The Heart That Loves You" (Warner Bros BSK-3173) and emerging in May 1978, it contains: A1. Don't Break The Heart That Loves You; A2. It Only Hurts For A Little While; A3. Little Things Mean A Lot; A4. Just Out Of Reach; A5. Make Love The Way We Used To; B1. Ode To A Cheater; B2. Your Sweet Lies; B3. Don't Squeeze My Charlie; B4. Memories Are Made Of This; B5. Breaking In A Brand New Broken Heart.
