i have finally got this album i could have start off with Venom's Welcome To Hell, Iron Maiden's Number Of The Beast Dio's Holy Diver,Judas Priest's Screaming For Vengance,Loudness,Thunder in the east,Megadeth's Rust in Peace,Metallica's Master Of The Puppets,Bathory's The Return,Sabbath's Masters Of Reality,Ozzy Osbourne's Blizzard Of Ozz,Scorpions' Blackout, Motorhead's Ace of spades or Dokken's Back for the attack album however the first wave of black metal has got me into
track listing
1,A Dangerous Meeting - it has got some great guitar riffs of Hank Shermann it sounds very heavy and wicked and a guitar solo by Michael Denner i gave it 5/5

2,Nightmare- it has a Motorhead drum sound and some bass guitar sound of The Scorpions and some Akira takasaki guitar sound Hank shermann & Michael Denner has from the 80's and some eerie vocals and evil growl vocals like cookie monster king diamond did a great job 5/5

3,Desecration Of Souls - Another Evil growl vocals king diamond did on the intro when you hear masters of 70's hard rock sound like Kiss or AC/DC when it has great guitar solos by Hank Shermann and Michael Denner it is very hard and heavy rocking track it is great to play on your jackson soloist guitar or your ibanez rg series guitar 5/5

4,Night of the Unborn- another heavy track with king diamond's eerie scream vocals and some guitar solos sound like
Vinnie Vincent and Akira Takasaki sound from Hank Shermann & Michael Denner this is one of my favorite songs by Mercyful Fate this gets you to bang your head and windmilling your hair to this song 5/5

5,The Oath- however it gets you feel like you are in one of those 80's horror movies when you hear thunder rumbling when we hear lighting strikes bell rings rain has fallen organ sounds of horror we hear people talking of evil then we hear a evil laugh like Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare On Elm Street movies and a synthesizer sound from the stephen king's It Movie and we hear King Diamond's eerie falsetto vocals again and epic guitar solos of Hank Shermann and Michael Denner it the lyricals i hear is the occult this is the track we hear king diamond playing the synthesizer 5/5

6,Gypsy-a great epic heavy rocking track it sounds pure Black Sabbath and Def Leppard when we hear king diamond did the singing about the gypsy ladies with those gypsy wagons and a guitar solos of Hank Shermann and Michael Denner sounds like michael sechenker from the scorpions 5/5

7,Welcome Princess of Hell- Another Great wicked song when we hear King Diamond has vocals is a cross between Rob Halford or Starscream from the original Transformers from the 80's it tells all the it welcomes the princess to the depths of hell another masters of guitar sounds of this time Metallica and Venom however we hear another guitar solos of Hank Shermann & Michael Denner 5/5

8,To One Far Away- Well you hear Michael Denner playing an acoustic guitar and you hear Hank Shermann playing the Electric Guitar and you hear king diamond doing an eerie scream vocalizing that will scare a emo/screamo kid who will be scared it's a multi instrumental track it's an okay song but after all i like the electric gutiar track on every mercyful fate song i like this is a short song i heard of 4/5

9,Come To The Sabbath-another favorite song i like when we hear those Drum beat sounds like Iron Maiden and a killer guitar riffs and we hear king diamond did a another eerie falsetto scream vocals when you hear those elements of two candles which are black and white what represents good and evil and however of east west and north and south lyrics you hear on the songs of infernal wicked tracks and we hear hank shermann doing a killer guitar solo sound of Randy Rhodes from Ozzy Osbourne and hear the elements of the guitar sound from don't fear the reaper by Blue Oyster Cult after the guitar solo is done it sounds like a progressive rock element i have ever hear after that we hear the drum beats like metallica and the killer guitar dive bomb like a Jackson soloist or a ibanez jem guitar like Joe Satriani or Steve Vai 5/5

10,Death Kiss (Demo)- It is a demo version for a dangerous meeting it was recorded on an old demo tape and it those killer guitar tones sound like it's from the 70's and 80's like AC/DC And Led Zeppelin and you hear king diamond sing just like robert plant however you will find this track on the complitation album that has rare demo tracks Return Of The Vampire it sounds like Hank Shermann and Michael Denner are playing on a Gibson Flying V as a lead guitarists but however it is my personal favorite song after all 5/5

this album came out in 1984 after the album melissa came out in 1983 this album has been reached on the "Billboard" magazine where it came at #202 where the two slots on top 200 but Mercyful Fate they came to the U.S in 1984 when they where opening for Motorhead we're they are headlined at through a trek of theaters in the 80's where king diamond could be Kiss but after all i recomend you to other bands related to mercyful fate i have like Venom Metallica Megadeth Emporer Mayhem Bathory Immortal Exodus Slayer Municipal Waste Suicidal Tendencies KD's Solo band Loudness Judas Priest any other heavy metal or thrash metal or black metal bands we have.

Very good album. If you are a fan or a new fan of metal I recommend this album. The great groovy, heavy, guitar riffs with the drums and bass to match. The vocal style of King Diamond, is just so crazy, weird and different it actually was a breath of fresh air to hear something different. King Diamonds' vocal style does take some time to get use to, but once you acquire the taste the music is just great. I know this album came out 30 years ago but it still matches up to music today. Favorite songs on the Album: A Dangerous Meeting, Nightmare, Desecration of Souls, The Oath. ENJOY!!!

One of the most underrated metal releases of the 90s. King Diamonds vocals aren't for everyone. But they aren't too crazy here, in fact they are EPIC. What is most compelling about this release is the songwriting and seemlessly incorporated guitar work.
It's some of the best guitar work you will find in a metal release of this era. PERIOD.

It is addictive.

It's simple, this is one of the top 20 metal albums of all time and it doesn't hurt that it has arguably the best covers ever.
Before black metal and power metal there was this!

This one actually took a while to grow on me. Most reviews focus on King Diamond, who is undeniably brilliant. But Mercyful Fate was a whole band effort and the instrumentation on this album is fantastic - light years beyond most anything else happening in the mid '80's. A lot of fans may be attracted to this album due to the MF cover on Metallica's Garage Inc album. As a cover, that was ok, but nothing touches the original MF material.
Those bother by Satanic lyrics should beware the album. Thematically, this is black metal and actually rather disturbing on first listen. Musically, this is a complex blend of thrash and traditional heavy metal. Nothing sounds like Mercyful Fate, though, except some of King Diamond's albums. Very highly recommended.
