Editorial Reviews

Review

From Kirkus
....riveting, a fast-paced, scenic style, one of the best aspects, a page-turner,  rarely breaking from forward motion.characters sympathetic, round and believable; watching them grapple with difficult decisions creates an engaging, dynamic read. exciting, surprising story that leaves the reader hungry for the next book.

From The Chick Lit Club After Pam's husband Jack dies of a heart attack on the train, three women - Pam, her sister Marie and Sandra - are drawn together in a way they never thought would be possible...... Pam also has to deal with both Jack's and her mother's and her brother-in-law Bill's problems. This is a beautifully told story which had me gripped from the beginning. Although this book is the sequel to Pam of Babylon, it is written in such a way that if you haven't read the prequel you will easily pick up, follow and enjoy Don't You Forget About Me.8/10 rating

In Don't You Forget About Me, the story continues about the late Jack Smith and the three women he left behind: Pam Smith, his wife; Marie Fabian, his sister-in-law and mistress; and Sandra Benson, his employee and pregnant mistress. We first met Jack and the ladies in Pam of Babylon, the first book in the Pam of Babylon trilogy series.

In this book, the story picks up where book one left off: the three ladies are each grieving and trying to learn how to cope with Jack's death, and are finding it difficult to move forward with their own lives. The nice part about this series is that while each book can stand alone, the author recaps the storyline from the previous book throughout the current book, so that the storylines merge effortlessly and moves forward into the next chapter of the women's lives. Not only does the author provide the reader with a recap from Pam of Babylon, but she also delves deeper into Jack's life and the events leading up to his death in Don't You Forget About Me.

Don't You Forget About Me delves deeper into Jack's dual lifestyle, and how the ramifications from the depth of his betrayals and aftermath of his death adversely affects not only the three ladies but his entire family. The three women each try to grapple with their grief as well as move forward with new men in their lives, but for each of them it is not an easy transition as Jack's hold on them continues with new deceptions and secrets that come to the surface. And Jack's mother Bernice, younger brother Bill, and sister-in-law Anne are also trapped in the web of deceit.

I could not put this book down. I really liked the way the characters developed from the first book, Pam of Babylon, and I really wanted to see what was going to happen to them in this sequel. It kept me on the edge of my seat! And now, I can hardly wait for the next book! The entwining of the lives of Pam, Marie, and Sandra is a must read for anyone who enjoys a really good story about the interaction between women who are inadvertently united by a common tragedy of events beyond their control. Thank you, Suzanne Jenkins, for a really good book! Don't You Forget About Me

Suzanne Jenkins sequel to Pam of Babylon is an easy, interesting read. The author's insight into the cause of Jack's death - his maniacal stress level and rich man's life style - caught my interest on the first page. Jack's less than savory life choices left the three women in his life suffering and struggling to get back on their feet as the depths of Jack's betrayal surface. This book explores what happens to women when we measure our self worth with the wrong gauge.

This book came to me free. It is not often that a book rates four stars. The editing was horrible. Misuse of personal pronouns, sentence fragments, tense mistakes were real problems. The author failed the mechanics of good writing test. Why four stars? I could see the characters and what they did and why they did it. I saw into their depraved souls while seeing their goodness and honesty. In seeing them I saw myself. As they sought redemption and understanding, so did I. Thank you, dear author, for your sight.

The entire series, Pam of Babylon, is a dark, well written, compelling look into a twisted relationship in a contemporary setting. This is book #2, as much depends on knowing the characters and the story, it probably does not stand well on it's own as a solo read, but as part of the series it absolutely shines as the next segment of the ongoing saga of the life of Pam of Babylon.

When I picked up book #1, it was some pretty rugged subject matter. Though a novel, it is no light fiction. The author has done a masterful and truly insightful job of developing her characters, exploring a very complex relationship matrix involving many main characters and how they influence and interact around the primary character of the book who is dead from the beginning of the story. Through all follows, you learn much of Jack, while watching the depth charges of his behaviors detonate deeper and deeper in the lives of his wife, children, mother, brother and his family, mistress, various lovers and those whom he used and abused when he was alive. It is one of the most remarkable series of books that I have read in my life, but it is not always comfortable, in fact frequently not, which is where the brilliance of this author really shines - she makes it possible to take this painful journey anyway, and I have learned a lot through reading her insightful narrative and observing her penetrating development of characters and their amazing interactions. I cannot recommend this series highly enough. But start with book #1. {Smile}
