About the Author
Her books are all standalone reads with no cliffhangers. They're humorous yet emotional, with sexy-times and happily-ever-afters. Vivian pretty much thinks she's got the best job in the world, and she's looking forward to giving readers more HEAs. She lives in B.C. Canada with her husband of many years and a fluffy attack Shih-tzu named Luna who ignores everyone except when treats are deployed.
A RITA-award nominated author, Elle Kennedy grew up in the suburbs of Toronto, Ontario, and holds a B.A. in English from York University. From an early age, she knew she wanted to be a writer, and actively began pursuing that dream when she was a teenager.
Elle currently publishes with Signet Eclipse, Harlequin Romantic Suspense, and Samhain Publishing. She loves strong heroines and sexy alpha heroes, and just enough heat and danger to keep things interesting!

What happens next is the very bumpy journey to try to recapture what Emma and Dean had all those years ago. I admit I am a sucker for second chance romances but this one could have been better. Even though it was a well written book, I felt that Emma and Dean didn't really have to try hard enough to be together. Especially Emma. She remembered the hurt from so long ago, yet let herself be taken sexually by Dean without much of a fight. In addition, there is a storyline involving the afore-mentioned partner from hell that I thought was overly explained. Some of those scenes seemed to be unnecessary in my opinion.
However, the characters are very likable and there are minor storylines going on at the same time that will undoubtedly set up future books in the series for other members of Dean's company.
Overall a decent read even though it fell flat at times for me.
And then there's Emma.
Emma and Dean dated waaaaaaaay back when they were teenagers, but he left and broke her heart. And then they randomly run into one another at a party in San Francisco years later, and he wants her... even though he doesn't know who she is at the time. Needless to say, she's not too happy when she realizes who he is, and then when he finds out who she is, it's equally as dramatic. Mostly because she's intent on not talking to him, and he desperately wants to talk to her.
I was pleased with this book and the storyline that played out. The old loves plot is a bit overdone, but I felt like it worked here, especially since they spent so much time apart and since Dean never realized what his true feelings were for Emma until they started spending time together years later.
I'm excited about other books in this series to come and to see glimpses of Emma and Dean in them.
So I liked the story well enough, but because of the shorter length, I felt is was missing much of the character development and complex story line that I normally expect from these authors. Unlike the other stories, there was almost no plot related to the DreamMakers company. I liked that part of the other books. So, I probably won't bother to read this story again, but I'm still looking forward to (and will buy) Gillian's story and Colby's story.
Cannot wait for book four Gillian and Chase story. Good job on Colby putting Suz in her place and making clear what he wants from her.
