Actually FFXI did not require an Xbox Live Gold Subscription. It was like the only game you could play using Xbox Live that did not. They did that because of the $12.99 monthly fee attached to it. Most likely the will do the same with ESO and not require Gold. However, It is safe to assume that most people that will buy this game will already have Gold Xbox Live Subs anyway.
